Social media roasts Ivanka after she complains about investigations into her family’s corruption
Yesterday, The New York Times revealed that two investigations into Donald Trump and his businesses are now looking into possible tax-writeoff improprieties related to consulting fees. Ivanka Trump appears to have received some of these fees.
Danny Hakim, Mike McIntire, William K. Rashbaum, and Ben Protess lay out the First Daughter’s apparent involvement in The Times:
“Some of those [consulting] fees appear to have been paid to Ms. Trump, The Times found. On a 2017 disclosure she filed when joining the White House as a presidential adviser, she reported receiving payments from a consulting company she co-owned, totaling $747,622, that exactly matched consulting fees claimed as tax deductions by the Trump Organization for hotel projects in Hawaii and Vancouver, British Columbia.”
They further explain:
“Ms. Trump was an executive officer of the Trump companies that made the payments, meaning she appears to have been treated as a consultant while also working for the company. While companies can deduct professional fees, the Internal Revenue Service requires that consulting arrangements be market-based and reasonable, as well as ‘ordinary and necessary’ to running a business.”
The investigations are being run separately as one is civil and one criminal, the former by New York state’s Attorney General Letitia James and the latter under the eye of the Manhattan DA Cyrus R. Vance Jr. Subpoenas have already been issued in both cases.
Add your name to tell Trump: You Lost! Concede!
While Ivanka does not seem to be an official focus for either probe yet, the publication of the article caused her to lash out on Twitter.
She accused the investigators of “harassment” and being “100% motivated by politics, publicity, and rage.” Her protestations are, to be generous, difficult to take in good faith. Her family is so steeped in corruption, so blatantly criminal that it would be negligent and a dereliction of duty for James and Vance not to investigate.
More to the point, if Ivanka did nothing wrong she has no reason to be concerned and the investigations will find her innocent of any wrongdoing. Her obvious concern over the inquiries would lead a betting man to guess that she has something to hide here. If so, the American people deserve to know what. The Trumps have pillaged this country with impunity for far too long.
This is harassment pure and simple. This ‘inquiry’ by NYC democrats is 100% motivated by politics, publicity and rage. They know very well that there’s nothing here and that there was no tax benefit whatsoever. These politicians are simply ruthless.https://t.co/4dQoDzQlRX

Twitter was less than impressed with Ivanka’s tweet and unleashed a wave of criticisms and jokes about prison time.
You’ll still be a princess you’ll just be a prison princess

Tax fraud is tax fraud, Pookie.
In 61 days your pops won’t be able to do anything to help you.
In fact, he may be really worried about the guys he owes money to. High likelihood he’ll be distracted.
You’re going to jail.

Law & order!
And if no laws were broken, then there’s nothing to be worried about!
Now go tell Daddy to accept the fact he LOST the election.

you can in a tweet and you can lie on TV, you can even lie to your family without consequence. But try that in court and. you'll just add years to your sentence. People who call a criminal investigation an inquiry also call prison camp.

Who was it who said, “if you’re innocent, you have nothing to worry about.” And…you seem worried, Ivanka. Wonder why.

This isn’t political. You could do time.
