Game over: Trump offers sad excuse and drops Georgia election-steal lawsuit
Donald Trump’s attorneys have withdrawn their lawsuit contesting the results of the presidential election in Georgia today, “voluntarily dismissing four lawsuits making unsubstantiated allegations about ineligible voters, election equipment problems and fraud,” according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The news comes less than 24 hours after Congress confirmed the electoral college votes confirming Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States — or possibly the 47th if Trump is impeached or removed from office under the 25th Amendment between now and inauguration day.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger claimed that the abandonment of the legal action by the Trump campaign indicates that the sore-losing president has given up on his delusional and evidence-free claims of malfeasance in Georgia’s conduct of their ballot counting.
“Rather than presenting their evidence and witnesses to a court and to cross-examination under oath, the Trump campaign wisely decided the smartest course was to dismiss their frivolous cases,” Raffensperger said.
Raffensperger and his deputies have refuted each of Trump’s many unwarranted accusations of election fraud on a point-by-point basis, countering the lawsuit’s invented claims concerning voting machines, ballot counting, signature verification, and illegal voters, every single one of which has been rejected by state courts.

“An attorney for Trump, Kurt Hilbert, said he wants to continue to investigate the election outside of court by examining election records. He wrote in a letter to the state’s attorneys that there was a ‘settlement offer’ for the state to produce more information, but there is no settlement, according to court records and Raffensperger.”

Trump’s lawsuits had sought to decertify the results of the Georgia presidential election, a moot point after Congress certified the election results in an early morning session that had been interrupted by an insurrection and invasion of their chambers by a mob of seditious terrorists loyal only to Donald Trump himself.

Trump’s attorney’s reference to a settlement offer was likely a face-saving effort to spare the rejected president the shame of yet another legal loss in his quixotic quest to reverse the course of his humiliating electoral defeat.

Anyway, the way things are going now for Trump, he needs to preserve his legal defense funds for a multitude of other lawsuits, both criminal and civil, that he is likely to face once his presidency is terminated.
