As President Donald J. Trump’s legacy of disgrace, mass death, and sedition is set in annals of history as his only term comes to a dramatic close, so too is that of his wife, Melania Trump, who has winded down her time in the First Lady’s office doing…absolutely nothing.
CNN’s Kate Bennet reports that sources within the White House revealed “the outgoing first lady hasn’t done anything of significance as the weeks of her tenure come to a close. She hasn’t established an office for continuing her platform in the post-White House years, according to a source familiar with her activities. Nor has she helped with the onboarding of incoming first lady Jill Biden — with whom she has still not made contact.”
The staffer summed up Melania’s past four years in one short sentence: “She’s part of this. She can be silent, but she’s part of this.”
The only thing Melania has done beyond packing and photoshoots was to release a rather rote statement on the violent mob and Capitol Hill siege that her husband incited on January 6th — a statement that contained not an iota of criticism of Donald for his role in the debacle.
It is fitting that her final act of her First Ladyship ends with nothing, because it speaks to what she has accomplished over the past four years — which is almost nothing.
Melania’s most prominent accomplishment is the laughable “BeBest” anti-bullying program, which ended its second year with “few of the objectives announced at the first anniversary accomplished” and existed “without specific policy or legislation goals, and most of its accomplishments in terms of advancing funding for children’s issues under the banner of ‘Be Best’ come via partnerships with programs that already exist within the federal government.”
Since then, she’s proven what a joke “BeBest” always was when she used it to trash her former friend Stephanie Wolkoff as a loser for leaking embarassing information about her to the media.
Indeed, her most memorable moments are displays of cruelty, indifference, and quiet misery. Her decision to wear a jacket emblazoned with “I don’t really care, do U?” at the height of the Trump administration’s horrifying child separation policy will be the only thing that anyone remembers about Melania years from now.

We might also remember the incredible tape in which Melania demanded to know who “gives a f**k about the Creesmas decorations” and complained that she had to take flak for her husband’s decision to traumatize tens of thousands of innocent children by ripping them out of their parents’ arms and incarcerating them in concentration camps.
Beyond a few visits to hospitals and White House children’s events, Melania’s legacy is one of absence and reluctantly fulfilled obligations. It pales in comparison to the vibrancy and passion of former First Lady Michelle Obama, who became a national icon for her tireless fight for girl’s education across the globe, healthy meals for kids here in America, and encouraging exercise in America’s youth.
We are sure that Dr. Jill Biden will restore the dignity and empathy to the First Lady’s Office that it has lacked for so long — just as her husband will to the office of the Presidency itself.
