Mike Pompeo sparks outrage after posting white supremacist dogwhistle on final day
The people who hitched their entire careers to the Trump train are in a bit of a sticky situation as a thoroughly disgraced Donald Trump prepares to leave the White House for good. Some of them, like the repulsive DHS child separation defender Miles Taylor, have turned into Trump critics and are desperately working to rehabilitate their images by pretending to be “principled Republicans” again.
Others are looking to carve themselves out a space in the post-Trump Republican Party, recognizing that Trump and his toxic brand of white supremacy has an iron grip on conservative politics for the foreseeable future.
Soon-to-be-ex-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made it clear which path he’s taking with a series of posts on Twitter that claimed “multiculturalism” was not who America was and that “political correctness” is just a division stoked by our “enemies” to make us weaker.
It may be longer than fourteen words, but otherwise this is about as transparent a white supremacist dog-whistle as it gets.

Woke-ism, multiculturalism, all the -isms — they're not who America is. They distort our glorious founding and what this country is all about. Our enemies stoke these divisions because they know they make us weaker. pic.twitter.com/Mu97xCgxfS

As offensive as it is ahistorical, the notion that “multiculturalism” isn’t who America is an unsubtle allusion to Great Replacement white nationalist conspiracy theories and an obvious signal to racists across the nation that Mike Pompeo will be carrying the Trump mantle with him as he tries to springboard from his Secretaryship into some other political career.
Social media reacted with instant horror and derision at the words from our nation’s top diplomat.
I know what you think you're doing, launching this brand of yourself, but you look like a canned ham and have the charisma of a stepdad who can't believe how long he's waiting for a table at Applebees

You're never going to be President. You're never going to be President. Get used to it.

Great-grandson of immigrants says what about multi-culturalism now?
