Payback: Biden immediately takes hatchet to Trump’s “accomplishments” with slew of executive orders

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by
You know how I feel
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day
It’s a new life
For me
And I’m feeling good.
— “Feeling Good”  by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse

Hit rewind now.

Joe Biden is now the 46th President of the United States and the task of dismantling the damage caused by his predecessor is the first order of urgent business that he must attend to.

With no time to waste, President Biden got a start on the daunting endeavor by signing a series of 17 executive orders that take immediate action to reverse some of the worst excesses of the previous occupant of the White House

The list seems like an indictment list for the pathological policies of the prior administration:

The racist and ineffective border wall now will soon become a distant memory.

The bigoted “Muslim travel ban” repudiated.

America will rejoin those nations who will strive to halt our current environmental crisis and halt projects that make progress in achieving those carbon emission goals next to impossible.

Finally, much-needed action in both mask policies and the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will start being taken.

Immigration reform will be enacted to the relief of the Dreamers and refugees seeking asylum alike.

Multiculturalism will return as something other than as a right-wing condemnation hurled at those of us they labeled “libtards.”

In fact, most of the freedoms that the outgoing administration tried to restrict for anyone but their base of white evangelicals will be restored for racial and gender minorities.

Trump’s last-minute efforts to try to legislate by executive fiat will be frozen before they can do too much damage.

And in a refreshing change of pace after the blatant corruption that flourished in the previous administration, ethics will return to the White House as something more than the butt of an insider’s joke as they grift the system.

It’s a new dawn.
It’s a new day.
It’s a new life.

And we all should now be feeling good.

Onward and upward from here as President Biden helps usher in an era of national reform and restoration of our most precious values.
