Marjorie Taylor-Greene complains about “porn” in bizarre defense of her own bigotry
The Democratically-controlled House is moving to strip Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) of her assignments on the House Labor and Education Committee and the House Budget Committee today over well-founded concerns stemming from the freshman Congresswoman’s support of the QAnon conspiracy theory, her 9/11 trutherism, her claim that school shootings are false flag events, her calls for violence and tacit support for insurrection, as well as numerous other deranged beliefs. The woman has quickly garnered a reputation for being the most profoundly unhinged member of a party absolutely teeming with psychopaths and lunatics and she simply cannot be trusted with so much power.
Rather than trying to justify her fringe beliefs, Greene ridiculously claimed that she’s being targeted because she’s a white female business owner. When that failed to convince Democrats to back off, she decided to switch tactics so today she got up on the House floor to defend herself. Presumably coaxed into doing so by the powers that be within the GOP, she abandoned her QAnon beliefs and admitted that school shootings are real and 9/11 actually happened.
Conceding to objective reality was apparently as far as she was willing to go though because Greene still peppered her speech with ludicrous far-right talking points and even went so far as to compare the QAnon hoax to the way the mainstream media covers the news. She offered the furthest thing from a blanket apology for her diseased and often bigoted rhetoric, demonstrating that she has learned nothing, regrets nothing, and is simply going through the motions in an effort to hold onto power.
At one particularly absurd point in her ranting speech, Greene launched into a tirade about cancel culture, the conservative bugaboo du jour. She whined that “Big Tech companies like Twitter” allow people to share “porn” which she insists is a “terrible, terrible thing.” At the same time, Greene claims she is “censored” from sharing her belief that “God’s creation is he created them male and female and that should be denied” which is really just a coded way of saying that she wants to be able to post hateful, transphobic opinions with impunity.
This woman is never going to change, she’s never going to wake up one day with sane opinions, and Congress has a responsibility to protect the American people from her by stripping her of her committee assignments and expelling her from the House.
