Read it and weep! Trump issues gloating partisan statement after his second impeachment acquittal

No apology.

No remorse.

No recognition that any of the carefully built case by the House impeachment managers that provided minute by minute explanations of how Donald Trump incited his mob of violent supporters to invade the Capitol Building — and led to the deaths of five people — gave the public a clear picture of his premeditated and illicit attempt to remain in power despite his massive losses in both the electoral college and in the popular vote.

Not that anyone expected anything else from Donald Trump as he issued a statement in the wake of his most recent acquittal on the perfectly justified impeachment charges of incitement to insurrection.

Still, Trump’s gloating and accusatory words continue his long tradition of casting himself as the victim when the blame lies so obviously with his own actions.

Here’s the text of Trump’s 2nd impeachment valedictory, prevented from being disseminated instantly on social media by the multiple bans put in place on the ex-president by Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms in the aftermath of the violence of January 6th.

“It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree. I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.”

“I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate. This has been yet another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our Country. No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago.”

“Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun. In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people. There has never been anything like it! We have so much work ahead of us, and soon we will emerge with a vision for a bright, radiant, and limitless American future,” the statement concluded.

If there was ever an Orwellian, Bizarro world interpretation of current events, this is it.

All the horrendous actions that Trump insinuates are attributable to Democrats are actually the perfect description of his own behavior while in office.

The infamous lawbreaker championing himself as the paragon of law and order.

The world’s most documented liar claiming the title as the arbiter of truth.

The violent disrupter advocating peaceful and honorable debate.

The Teflon president sliding away from responsibility for his actions yet again.

It’s enough to make you doubt the sanity of Republican senators for their inability to grasp the consequences of their votes to acquit on the rule of law — if not doubt your own mental faculties.

Add your name to call on prosecutors to ARREST DONALD TRUMP for his crimes!

While for many, today’s failure by the Senate to convict was entirely predictable given the complete ethical collapse of the Republican Party, the arc of justice can still be fully realized through the criminal prosecution of the deplorable former president.

With the House impeachment managers having compiled a detailed blueprint for any federal prosecutor to take up the gauntlet, it’s imperative that everyone loudly demand that Trump be prosecuted as a normal citizen now that he is no longer protected by the restrictions on trying a sitting president.

Our democracy simply isn’t safe until Donald Trump is held accountable for his crimes.

If the Senate won’t do convict him, then the Department of Justice absolutely must!
