Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is valiantly trying to recover from one of the biggest political faux pas in modern history after it was discovered that he had flown with his family to a vacation resort in Cancun, Mexico while the rest of Texas was suffering from massive power outages, lack of heat, and diminishing supplies of clean drinking water due to the devastating winter storm that has hit the state that he represents in Congress.
Cruz initially tried to pretend that he had merely planned to escort his family to their vacation and then immediately jet back to Texas when he issued a statement to try to counteract the mounting furor over his unbelievably selfish jaunt while his constituents were in such dire straits.
The Texas senator’s attempt at a face-saving excuse fell flat on its face once the detective work of internet sleuths worked their magic and discovered that Cruz was originally not booked to return until Saturday and only booked a return flight for today at 6 AM this morning, likely after seeing the social media uproar over his selfish and thoughtless behavior.
NEW: Ted Cruz booked his return ticket from Cancun to Texas at 6 a.m. today, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Cruz was initially booked to return on Saturday.

With the news of the politically-motivated last-minute change of plans verified by NBC’s Chief White House Correspondent, the social media drumbeat urging Senator Cruz t resign in disgrace just got louder.

And she expressed zero regret for breaking the law…zero

Yup, saying it was last minute makes it worse. I could almost understand a tone-deaf person going on a pre-booked vacation, but it’s pretty clear things got cold and Cruz immediately jetted off to the tropics. He should resign and stay there forever.

In a normal world, something like this scandal involving Senator Cruz’s dereliction of duty would mark the end of a tone-deaf politician’s effective career.
In today’s Republican Party, however, where one can openly advocate for the violent storming of the Capitol without a hint of consequence, Senator Cruz’s transgression will most likely hardly even register.
It will be up to the people of Texas to ensure that he gets what he deserves when he runs for re-election in 2024.
