Republican Senator brings up strippers and porn in deeply weird attack on Biden’s relief bill

The Democratic Party’s blockbuster $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief bill has finally passed both houses of Congress and is head to the White House for signature — but that hasn’t stopped the Republicans from turning the alarmist rhetoric up to 11.

Salty and resentful that the Democrats didn’t allow the Republicans to water down the relief bill with the sadistic cruelty and disingenuous fiscal hypocrisy that passes for “policy ideas” among conservatives these days, the GOP’s members have taken to increasingly wild and insulting metaphors to communicate their displeasure with the enormously popular bill that is going to lift 13 million Americans out of poverty.

Rep. John Kennedy (R-LA) apparently had something else on his mind when he joined FOX News to discuss the bill yesterday, made obvious when he needlessly shoehorned both “strippers” and “porn” into a series of poor metaphors that are frankly deeply offensive to everyone involved.

“My response is right, and the stripper really likes you! I said the other day that calling this a coronavirus bill is like calling Harvey Weinstein a feminist! It’s just chock full of spending porn!” complained the lecherous old toad.

While Kennedy makes a half-hearted attempt to assert that he doesn’t mind helping people, it rings as laughably hollow because he just compared a stimulus relief bill that would cut child poverty in half to a serial rapist. While there’s nothing new about Republicans going out of their way to cram in as much latent misogyny and all-around creepiness into their rhetoric as they possibly can, it again shows how deeply unserious their commitment to policymaking and actual governance is.

Add your name to call on prosecutors to ARREST DONALD TRUMP for his crimes!

The Republican Party has fully absorbed the Trump persona and reflects it back at the world; they’re nothing but a party of deranged shitposters more dedicated to “triggering the libs” and defending racists from the consequences of their actions than they are actually doing the hard work of taking care of the American people.

Perhaps it is just the natural end result of conservative ideology, which is entirely predicated on the notion that the government shouldn’t help anybody and all society should be left groveling for sustenance at the feet of the oligarch class. But these kinds of comments from sitting United States Senators are a reminder that the Republican Party has nothing of value to offer the American people and shouldn’t be given any kind of voice in policymaking if we can help it.
