Ted Cruz starts and loses spat with CNN reporter over 4th of July parties

President Biden signed a life-saving, life-changing $1.9 trillion relief bill yesterday, demonstrating what competent leadership during a crisis looks like after four years of the American people suffering under Donald Trump. At the same time, the vaccine rollout continues to ramp up, raising hopes that the COVID-19 pandemic will soon be in the rearview mirror. Since day one of his administration, tackling the coronavirus has been Biden’s primary focus and we are now seeing the dividends of that approach.

Things are going so well in fact that President Biden revealed yesterday that if the country rises to the challenge, employs the proper safety precautions, and gets vaccinated as soon as doses become available to them, there’s a good chance that we will be able to celebrate July 4th with friends and family. Small groups of people will once again be able to congregate and socialize without fear of catching a possibly deadly virus.

Add your name to call on prosecutors to ARREST DONALD TRUMP for his crimes!

Since Republicans refuse to give Biden any of the credit he deserves and revel in politicizing the pandemic, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) retweeted a video of Biden’s encouraging July 4th remarks and tried to paint him as tyrannical. He shared an image of a barbecue with the text “COME AND TAKE IT,” a phrase frequently used by conservatives when talking about their assault rifles.

The implication is that a small gathering isn’t enough for Cruz and he would rather ignore the federal government’s warning and needlessly endanger the lives of his friends and family. As always, he wallows in stupidity like a  hog in mud.

CNN’s Jim Sciutto spotted Cruz’s idiotic tweet and wondered aloud about the “current compulsion” that drives people like Cruz to turn everything from masks to vaccines into “a visceral fight freedom.” He correctly pointed out that the things conservatives rail against will actually help them personally as well as help their communities.

Cruz responded by saying that “CNN is puzzled why Americans care about freedom,” a truly brick stupid remark that shows just how little he thinks of his mouthbreathing supporters. Asking people to take precautions and avoid massive gatherings in the midst of a deadly pandemic that has already killed over half a million Americans isn’t an affront to freedom, it’s just common sense.

Sciutto responded that he was simply asking why Cruz is portraying simple health precautions as “visceral fights for freedom.” He asked why the senator doesn’t have a similarly outraged response to the government telling people to wear seatbelts. He ended by inviting Cruz on his show to discuss, something the infamously craven senator is unlikely to do. He prefers to avoid any substantive discussions that might expose the rotted out foundations of his hollow belief system.
