After seeing his political influence plummet after being kicked off of most of the major social media platforms because of his false claims about a stolen election — claims that led to a violent insurrection on Capitol Hill on January 6th — Donald Trump is reviving plans to form his own social media network, according to a statement from his spokesperson Jason Miller on Fox News this morning.
Miller talked with host Howard Kurtz about Trump’s false claims about his electoral defeat and his imminent launch of a platform that would allow him to continue to repeat his fabrications without repercussions.
“I do think that we’re going to see President Trump returning to social media, in probably about two or three months here, with his own platform,” Miller confidently predicted.
“This is something that I think will be the hottest ticket in social media,” he opined.
According to Miller, numerous companies have been clamoring to get into business with Trump on his idea of launching his own branded social media network, cognizent of the number of MAGA fans likely to follow the former president to a new platform that would presumably allow the type of socially damaging misinformation that led to Trump’s suspension from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube in the first place.
“It will be big once he starts. There have been a lot of high-powered meetings he’s been having at Mar-a-Lago with some teams of folks who have been coming in, and I gotta tell you, it’s not just one company that’s approached the president, there have been numerous companies… Everyone wants him.”
While Miller’s comments on Trump’s universal desirability may be among the largest exaggerations ever claimed, many social media commentators responded to the idea with derision, reminding people that everything that Donald Trump touches withers and dies, particularly his bogus business ventures like Trump University, Trump Steaks, and his bankrupt casinos.
That should about sum it up, yeah. He'll do for social media what he did for vodka, steak, casinos, and universities. At most, he'll create an environment where lies can be spread and hate can be spewed without consequence. So pretty much take Parler's business plan.

What if he charges his followers a fee? I wouldn't be surprised… Many of them would pay it.

Given Trump’s overall lack of credibility when it comes to launching new ventures, perhaps it’s best if he just calls us the day the service is ready to launch.
