Former Trump staffer explodes at Democrat on Fox News after being called a liar
Republicans have decided that the latest issue they’re going to manufacture spittle-flecked rage over is the idea of a vaccine passport, something that could help the country return to normalcy faster by giving people a way to prove that they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19 when entering a business or public space.
Not surprisingly, the usual right-wing misinformation merchants have been pushing lies about the proposed vaccine passport, painting it as some authoritarian overreach by the Biden administration when in reality the White House is simply liaisoning with private companies who are eager to institute these programs. Airlines are particularly interested in the concept, and see it as perhaps the quickest and safest way to rebound from the disastrous dip in business they’ve experienced over the course of the pandemic.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has gone as far as to call the vaccine passport “Biden’s Mark of the Beast,” a reference to the Book of Revelations and the forces of evil descending upon the Earth. Clearly, these people are uninterested or incapable of discussing this program with anything even approaching good faith.
Fox News has fully embraced fearmongering over the passports and sees it as a way to do what they always do: launch baseless attacks against Democrats. Today, Democratic commentator Chris Hahn got into a dustup with Mercedes Schlapp who is a conservative commentator, a former White House Director of Strategic Communications for the Trump White House and husband of Matt Schlapp, the chairman of the American Conservative Union.
During the Fox segment, Mercedes Schlapp attacked vaccine passports and claimed that Democrats have an “illogical mentality because they are against the implementation of voter ID laws. This inane argument has quickly become one of the most popular for conservatives attacking vaccine passports because apparently, they see no difference between a program designed to save lives and a racist program designed to reduce voter turnout and help Republicans disenfranchise people who don’t vote for them.
Hahn explained that the Biden administration is not behind the vaccine passports because the push is largely coming from the private sector.

“Here’s what’s troubling. The private sector is driving it, not the government but Republicans like everything else they’ve done during this horrible crisis we’ve been through are pushing these conspiracy theories that the government’s trying to control you which is causing some of their followers not to get vaccinated,” said Hahn.
“People like Tucker Carlson, like Jim Jordan, like Mercedes right here right now, trying to convince that the government is somehow watching you. That is very irresponsible! People need to get vaccinated” Hahn went on, at which point Schlapp tried to interject.
“Hold on! Hold on!” said Hahn, forging on. “It is the private sector that wants to make sure that people coming into their venues are vaccinated so that their patrons can be safe from COVID-19. It is time for conservatives in this country to acknowledge we have a crisis and start joining the fight to end it and stop spreading lies about what’s going on in this country. It is devastating this country and blood is on the hand of the former guy and others who support him.” said Hahn as Schlapp tried to talk over him.
“Chris I am not going to take this from you. You are not going to call me a liar!” Schlapp said, completely losing her cool. “You are not going to call me a conspiracy theorist. You’re not going to call Tucker Carlson a conspiracy theorist! That is wrong,” she added.
“He is. He is and you are,” Hahn said without hesitation, confident that he was
“I’m not going to put up with this! I stand for freedom. I stand for the freedom of the American people,” Schlapp claimed.
“No, you don’t. No, you don’t. You’re a grifter. This is ridiculous,” replied Hahn.
Fox Host Gillian Turner tried to get the guests to stop the “name-calling” but at that point, things were too far gone. Schlapp continued to whine about Hahn correctly identifying her and Tucker Carlson as liars.
