Madison Cawthorne tries to steal responsibility for Biden’s relief bill after voting against it
These Republicans are so damned shameless about their hypocrisy!
After Republicans united to vote against President Biden’s pandemic relief bill, the American Rescue Plan, which passed both the House and Senate without the benefit of a single GOP “yea,” was signed by the president and the checks started pouring into American’s bank accounts.
It was more than the additional $1400 that the bill provided that made the bill so tremendously popular with both Democratic and Republican voters alike, however, as its provisions also included substantial sums to state and local governments to help fund essential programs that were in danger of succumbing to the financial pressures that the tax-strapped localities were facing due to the economic woes caused by the pandemic as well as money to augment efforts to help fight against the coronavirus.
Faced with the overwhelmingly positive response to legislation they unanimously opposed, some GOP politicians resorted to their old trick of speaking out of both sides of their mouths, attempting to claim credit for a bill that they fervently fought against to help burnish their credentials for bringing home the bacon for their home districts.
Count Congressman Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) among that pernicious group, as he proudly tweeted out the news that several community health centers in his North Carolina district would be receiving grants from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.
-Bakersville Community Medical Clinic Inc. was given $1,771,125
-Blue Ridge Community Health Services Inc. was given $10,473,250
Proud to see tax-payer dollars returned to NC-11.

Noticeably absent from Rep. Cawthorn’s tweet was any mention that these grants were funded by the American Rescue Plan bill that he was so vehemently opposed to passing.
Instead, Cawthorn, no stranger to stolen valor after his lies about his rejection by the U.S. Naval Academy and the spring break car accident that left him partially paralyzed, tried to bask in the glory of the millions of dollars flowing into his district without noting that he not only had nothing to do with them but that he had actively tried to prevent them from ever having been funded.
Cawthorn’s opportunistic hypocrisy predictably led to an avalanche of derision on social media as his brazen chutzpah generated frustration and anger.
Maybe less time punching trees and more time voting for good legislation.

Add your name to demand Congress raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour!
Believe me, we know. A lot of us truly despise him.

Madison Cawthorn is trash. We are done with his antics in #nc11.
Although when you lie about your job, education, experience, the Paralympics, your accident, and the friend who saved your life in the accident, we don’t really expect too much from you.

Well, he just thought it was the Reich thing to do.

I’m an NC-11 voter and a lot of us truly despise him. There are several qualified candidates already running against him for 2022.

Quoting people's own words back at them is clearly cancel culture, you monster.

He did.
But right wing is never known for their consistency.

ep. Madison Cawthorn tries to steal responsibility for the American Rescue p after he and every other Republican united to vote against it.
Congressman Cawthorn had better start burnishing his resume or start applying for anchor positions on right-wing media outlets like his colleague Rep. Matt Gaetz because his easily discredited antics aren’t going down so well now that Donald Trump’s star has fallen so precipitously.
Let’s make sure that he’s high on the list of GOP candidates to be defeated and replaced in the 2022 midterm elections.
