Matt Gaetz reported to be considering quitting Congress to take a job a job in right-wing media
It’s not surprising that a Republican right-wing extremist and ardent Trump supporter would not be enamored of the life of public service that is supposedly part and parcel of being a member of Congress.
Thus, no eyebrows were raised nor any pearls clutched when Axios reported today that C0ngressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL), the Butthead doppelganger who has been one of the most sycophantic confederates of the former president, was seriously considering abandoning any plans at running for re-election and instead may be seeking a position as a propaganda-spewer at Newsmax, the broadcaster designed for viewers for whom Fox News seems too far-left for their world views.
According to Axios, Gaetz “has privately told confidants” that he is “interested in becoming a media personality, and floated taking a role at Newsmax.”
Of the three sources that told Axios of the Florida congressman’s discussions, one claims that Gaetz has already “had early conversations with the network about what a position could look like.”
The potential move doesn’t necessarily mean that Gaetz would be permanently abandoning politics for studio lights and pancake makeup.
Political analysts think that the idea of becoming a full-time “news” personality may be a cunning strategy to raise his already over-saturated media profile in advance of a Senate bid, possibly in Alabama, just over the border from Gaetz’s Florida panhandle district, as The Hill previously reported in 2019.
While Gaetz’s office did not respond to Axios’ request for comments on their story, that didn’t stop people who saw the story on social media from giving their own perspective on the idea.
Yep, Cawthorne is another one who has no intention of even trying to pass any legislation. Somehow, in this day and age, being a "media personality" is more prestigious than being a US Congressperson.

He’s suffering from an acute case of MAGAlomania. Wait till he gets there and sees what kind of low rent operation newsmax is. It has production values on par with the programming on Weird Al’s UHF. pic.twitter.com/VuERuncErW

Add your name to demand Congress raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour!

Hoping Newsmax is next in line for a Dominion lawsuit. And what, is Gaetz not good enough for Fox? They hired KKKayleigh, for gods sake.

Whatever Matt Gaetz’s future plans may be, it is perfectly clear that his absence from the halls of Congress is eagerly anticipated by many.
He should be encouraged to resign and immediately pursue his star-crossed media ambitions for the good of the nation and the detriment of television journalism.
