Liz Cheney’s replacement swears loyalty to Trump in deeply disturbing ceremony
The Republican Party has ousted Rep. Liz Cheney (WY) from her 3rd-ranking position in GOP House Leadership because she failed to prostrate herself at the altar of Trump. She refused to embrace the Big Lie that Joe Biden stole the election and as a reward, she has been labeled a RINO (Republican In Name Only) and been smeared as a Communist. The irony, of course, is that Cheney’s political views are every bit as detestable as every other Republican — she just hasn’t completely decoupled from reality.
Predictably, the MAGA Republicans immediately jockeyed to snag Cheney’s much-coveted former position. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) made one of the more aggressive bids for the job, presenting herself as someone who will never, ever question the wisdom of Donald J. Trump and was rewarded for her fealty when House Republicans voted to make her the 3rd-ranking member.

After she was chosen, Stefanik delivered comments on the decision and made sure to thank the MAGA godhead who made her ascension possible. Flanked by the eternally detestable Steve Scalise, Stefanik heaped praise on Trump.
“I also want to thank President Trump for his support. He is a critical part of our Republican team,” said Stefanik.
Warming up to her new appointment as chief propagandist for the worst president in American history, she went on to praise voters for supporting Trump and called him an “important voice” in the party. Her dead-eyed gaze and monotonous tone made it clear that the real audience for her little speech was the orange-tinged sexual predator watching from Mar-a-Lago.
There is no flattering way to spin this. Stefanik said her party is “unified in working with President Trump,” a strange statement given that he no longer has any institutional power. What she really meant was that the GOP will continue to bow and scrape before Trump because his insane base is the heart and soul of the Republican Party. American conservatives are hurtling full-speed towards literal fascism and our only option is to vote every single Republican out of office.
Bizarre and ominous for Stefanik to feel compelled to announce, referring to House Republicans, “We are unified in working with President Trump.”
