House GOP leader slams Biden for having a normal sleep schedule

While Donald Trump’s total control over the Republican Party has been clear for years now, it still boggles the mind to see how slavishly his sycophants shine his boots.  Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) hit a new low on Saturday when he slammed Biden for not having the “energy” that Donald Trump has.

“At no time, having known Joe Biden for quite some time, does he have the energy of Donald Trump. We both know it. Donald Trump didn’t need to sleep five hours a night, and he would be engaged. If you called Donald Trump, he would get on the phone before staff would,” said McCarthy to Sean Hannity following his first meeting with the new president.

Comparing the stamina of two men in their mid-seventies is absolutely ridiculous in and of itself, but the idea that Donald Trump himself is a “high-energy” individual is laughable. Trump was by far the laziest president to ever hold office, having spent the majority of his presidency playing golf (an estimated 261 times) or watching television and angrily tweeting about it. After the tax cuts were passed, he pretty much abandoned all efforts to get any kind of major legislation passed, too busy fuming about his political enemies and illegally plotting to discredit his 2020 election challenger.

In fact, it’s a very good thing that Joe Biden gets the amount of sleep that he needs and doesn’t spend all night doomscrolling through Twitter and growing increasingly angry at all the people criticizing him like Donald Trump used to.

The fact that the leader of the House Republicans feels obligated to publicly massage the ego of the disgraced former president like he’s a particularly mercurial toddler tells you all you need to know about the state of modern conservatism and the dark, dark path that politics in this country is careening down.
