Trump concocts zany theory about Facebook using “phony lockboxes” to distort 2020 election

Fresh off a weekend appearance at the North Carolina Republican state convention that devolved into “Diapergate,” Donald Trump took to the airwaves of Fox Business this morning to accuse Facebook of being involved in stealing a victory in the 2020 presidential election from him.

Trump apparently still holds a grudge against Facebook after they suspended his account in the wake of the January 6th insurrection, a move that they converted to a minimum two-year ban from the platform last week after their outside advisory board suggested a more definitive punishment for the former president’s inflammatory rhetoric and persistent misinformation in his posts.

Speaking with Fox Business host Stuart Varney this morning, Trump launched a brand new conspiracy theory about an election for which he has had no lack of extraordinarily unbelievable excuses to explain his landslide loss.

Trump’s latest claim is that Facebook spent hundreds of millions of dollars to pay for “phony lockboxes” that in the ex-president’s deranged mind were the collection point for “96 percent Biden votes.”

“They were like just dumping ballots, it was a phony deal!”, Trump falsely declared.

The ludicrousness of this latest cynical conspiracy theory was met with considerable derision on the social media platforms that Trump is no longer welcome to participate in.

It is truly amazing that Trump can get away with promulgating his outrageous lies on a national TV network without the slightest bit of challenge, particularly when the accusations that he makes are as outlandish and laughable as the ones he made today about Facebook’s involvement in setting up phony ballot drop boxes.

By now we all know that Trump likely belongs in prison, but his latest rantings indicate that, until he is tried and sentenced, he should be committed to an asylum for the criminally insane.
