Michael Wolff, the author of two bombshell exposés on the disastrous Trump White House, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House and Siege: Trump Under Fire will soon release his third book about the former president. Entitled Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency, it’s said to offer a glimpse inside the lame-duck days of the Trump administration including some of the shocking behind closed doors reactions to the deadly January 6th Capitol insurrection. Wolff interviewed the former president so that his perspective could be included.
According to advance excerpts from Wolff’s new book, Trump himself experienced “puzzlement” over the MAGA supporters who besieged the Capitol. He was supposedly befuddled by “who these people were with their low-rent ‘trailer camp’ bearing and their ‘get-ups’, once joking that he should have invested in a chain of tattoo parlors and shaking his head about ‘the great unwashed’.”
Anyone who has seen photographs of the January 6th insurrectionists will know exactly what Trump meant by “get-ups.” Although there was nothing funny about what these treasonous individuals did, the way many of them dressed up with shields, draped themselves in Trump flags, and wore absurd helmets was undeniably mockable.
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Donald Trump, the beneficient of lifelong privilege and wealth, an elitist in the truest sense of the word, would express such disdain for his own supporters. He doesn’t respect them and doesn’t even seem to like them. He’s a conman who fooled his voters en masse, tricking many of them into believing he somehow had the interests of the common man at heart when in reality all he was ever interested in was accumulating power for himself and tax cuts for his wealthy cronies.
