Fox News abruptly cuts away from Trump’s big border speech as he goes off the rails

The twisted and complicated relationship between Fox News and Donald Trump continues to surprise both the cable network’s viewers and outside observers.

As an early and voluble supporter of Trump’s presidential ambitions, Fox News was seen as virtual state media during the former president’s term and to this day features the rantings of some of his most fervent televised sycophants like Sean Hannity,  Laura Ingraham, Maria Bartiromo, and Jeannine Piro.

Splits in the symbiotic relationship between Fox News and Donald Trump became evident after the network’s election analysts made an early call indicating that Trump had lost the 2020 presidential contest in Arizona.

Trump was livid over what he saw as a betrayal by his formerly loyal news outlet and began focusing his attention more on Fox‘s upstart rivals for the title of most extreme right-wing propaganda arm like OAN and NewsMax.

While Fox News still caters to the MAGA hordes in its news coverage, having been the recipient of a $1.6 billion lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems over the networks’ false claims of the companies supposed election rigging, it has become quite careful about endorsing any of Trump’s perpetual whining about how election fraud allegedly was the only reason that he lost to Joe Biden.

Thus, Fox News viewers were treated to the surprising situation that happened today during their coverage of Trump’s visit to the nation’s southern border in Texas in support of Republican Governor Greg Abbot’s quixotic attempt to resurrect the former president failed border wall initiative through private fundraising.

Having spent all day hyping Trump’s appearance on their airwaves when he addressed the crowd in Texas, the network astonishingly cut short its coverage of the disgraced former president’s remarks when he quickly launched into yet another angry diatribe attacking the integrity of the 2020 election.

“We had an election where we did much better than we did the first time and amazingly we lost,” Trump began his rant. “I just want to thank the people of Texas because we won in a landslide. It wasn’t even close.”

“We got 12 million more votes than we got the first time,” Trump continued. “We better get our elections straightened out because you’re going to have a runaway country, you’re going to have a banana republic, you’re going to have a third world country here pretty soon because our elections are a mess.”

While Fox News typically indulges the deranged fantasies of the former president, the anchors back in the Fox News studios were quick to cut away and direct the topic back to the border “crisis,” a talking point that won’t harm them in their litigation with Dominion over false allegations of election fraud.

With Trump still apparently unaware of the Fox News actions to mute his latest batch of lies, he has yet to condemn the network for their latest example of the type of disloyalty that typically makes his blood boil.
