Psaki crushes Fox’s Peter Doocy for his “loaded and inaccurate question” about spying on conservatives

One of the more interesting sideshows of the Biden era so far is the ongoing verbal jousting competition between White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki and the perenially bad faith Fox News reporter Peter Doocy. It seems like just about every day Doocy lobs some kind of loaded question at Psaki, usually tied to a nonsensical right-wing talking point doing the rounds at his home network. It’s clear he has no real interest in obtaining information from the White House and is instead fixated on getting soundbites that serve the conservative agenda. Each time, Psaki manages to deftly dismantle his attack.

Today, Doocy fired off one of his most ludicrous questions to date, not even bothering to mask his ulterior motives in the process.

“For how long has the administration been spying on people’s Facebook profiles looking for vaccine misinformation?” asked Doocy.

Doocy’s question takes for granted as true the conspiracy theory that the White House is spying on people’s Facebook pages. Presumably, this deranged little assumption is rooted in the Biden administration’s announcement that it has begun “flagging problematic posts” to help curb the spread of misinformation about COVID-19. Doing so doesn’t require “spying” since Facebook posts are publicly available. The White House should be commended for taking such action. Lives are at stake.

As usual, Psaki proved more than capable of taking down Doocy.

“That was quite a loaded and inaccurate question which I would refute,” responded Psaki. “Well Peter, first of all, as you know we’re in regular touch with a range of media outlets. Let me finish,” she said, as Doocy repeatedly tried to interrupt her.

“As we are in regular touch with social media platforms,” Psaki went on. “This is publicly open information, people sharing information online. Just as you are all reporting information on your news stations.”

Psaki’s rebuttal was spot on. As he always does after these encounters, Doocy was left looking like a self-serving fool. Maybe one of these days he’ll finally learn that he can’t beat her.
