AOC claps back at Sean Spicer and schools him on basic definitions
It really is remarkable to look upon modern right-wing political discourse these days and realize just how dumb it is. Completely devoid of nuance, context, or any adherence to basic facts, it largely operates at around a fourth-grade level of understanding, entirely reliant encompassing labels that may or may not be at all related to the actual subject at hand.
Donald Trump’s former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer — who has somehow been invited to speak at multiple universities despite infamously disgracing himself and his profession forever on his first day on the job — thought he’d score a few points and get his name back in the news by doing what every Republican who needs a little pop does, which is taking a trite cheap shot at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

The democratic socialist Congresswoman permanently occupies a rent-free penthouse in the minds of Trumpian men, who see her as some kind of communist bogeywoman that arouses all sorts of confusing feelings within them — and being men of simple and smooth minds, this confusion makes them very angry. Republican politicians quickly learned they can harness this anger and turn it into social media engagement, which is why tweeting @AOC is one of the right-wing’s favorite pastimes.
It never ends well for them though, because every single time their attacks end up being something like “hmm you say you hate capitalism but tweet from iPhone!”
Spicer, being just as uncreative and simple-brained as the rest of them, decided to publicly deride Rep. Ocasio-Cortez for opening a political merchandise shop, because according to him, all capitalism is when you exchange things and use currency and therefore having a shop is somehow “hypocritical” on her part because she believes in a more equitable distribution of wealth in America.
A very exasperated Rep. Ocasio-Cortez quickly set the record straight.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s shop is designed to promote her national profile, raise money for Democrats, and promote Democratic policy platforms with shirts that say things like “Tax the Rich,” “Abolish ICE,” and “Green New Deal.”
