Republican lawmaker trolls Trump back after weathering the former president’s latest attack

For the sake of his delusional supporters and his own turgid ego, Donald Trump continues to pretend that he won the 2020 election and that there’s actually a chance he might be reinstated as president. Despite his team’s persistent failures to provide even a scrap of evidence for his claims of mass voter fraud, he is still conducting himself as if the Arizona vote audit—nothing more than a pathetic Republican PR stunt at this point—might actually produce proof that Trump somehow won the state.

Today, the former president once again attacked a member of his own party, State Senator Paul Boyer of Arizona. Boyer, who originally supported the audit, told The Hill in May that he had grown “embarrassed” by it and that continuing to push for it after it long ago became clear it would lead nowhere amounted to living in a “fantasy land.” Trump clearly doesn’t appreciate the senator’s rational read on the situation.

In his statement, Trump called Boyer a “RINO” or Republican In Name Only, a pejorative term in right-wing circles that has increasingly come to simply mean anyone not fully on board with the MAGA agenda. He accused the state senator of holding up the Arizona audit.

Add your name to demand Congress raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour!

“Boyer has been nothing but trouble, and nobody knows why,” the statement reads. All we demand is Voter Integrity! He is being primaried by a strong and highly respected challenger, former Arizona State Representative Anthony Kern.” As far as Trump attacks go this one was fairly tame and shows he’s running out of creative ways to sell his rubbish misinformation to the masses.

Boyer himself shared the Trump statement on Twitter along with a trolling commentary. He mocked the former president for failing to build his border wall and joked that if he had completed it it might have stopped the “40K #BambooBallots” from getting into Arizona, a reference to the deranged conspiracy theory that fake ballots manufactured in China bearing traces of bamboo stalks swayed the Arizona election.

The state senator also took a jab at Trump for getting banned from Twitter due to his part in the January 6th insurrection. Clearly, Boyer is having the last laugh here.
