Trump fans the flames of insurrection with incendiary praise for rioters
New audio released by The Washington Post reveals the full extent of Donald Trump’s Orwellian efforts to convince us to ignore the evidence presented to our very eyes and ears.
The audio comes from an exclusive interview that Trump granted to Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker for their new book I Alone Can Fix It where Trump defended the violent mob of MAGA fans who invaded the Capitol as “loving.”
“Personally what I wanted is what they wanted,” Trump described the crowd. “They showed up just to show support because I happen to believe the election was rigged at a level like nothing has ever been rigged before.”
“It was a loving crowd, too, by the way. There was a lot of love,” the twice-impeached former president said during the interview which took place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. “I’ve heard that from everybody. Many, many have told me that was a loving crowd.”
A “loving crowd” whose angry assaults resulted in 5 deaths, more than 150 injured police officers, rampant destruction of federal property, and feces-smeared walls in the Capitol Building.
Trump continued with his cynical mischaracterization of the events of January 6th by repeating misinformation likely gleaned from extremist right-wing media sources with little interest in the truth of what happened that day, further disseminating the false rumor that Capitol Police actually welcomed the violent insurrectionists into the building rather than being battered by the marauding invaders as they tried to protect the members of Congress who were in the process of certifying Joe Biden’s presidential victory.
“In all fairness, the Capitol Police were ushering people in,” Trump told Leonnig and Rucker, according to the audio of their interview. “The Capitol Police were very friendly.”

It appears as if Trump’s “Big Lie” about the election being stolen through massive voter fraud spawns numerous other lies that are just as pernicious and self-serving.
Hopefully, the select committee established by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will illuminate the truth surrounding the January 6th insurrection and put Trump’s lies to rest once and for all.
