Trump’s former chief of staff calls him “president” and says he’s meeting with his cabinet in NJ

Donald Trump, the twice-impeached former president, is cos-playing as if he is still in office, and his former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows is acting as his enabler and dog-whistling to the MAGA base in ways that have some people thinking that they are planning to move forward with another coup attempt.

Appearing on Newsmax‘s Cortes & Pellegrino program last night, Meadows told the world that Trump has been holding meetings with “cabinet members” and that they are intending to “move forward in a real way,” intimating some form of imminent action.

Saying that Trump is “a president that is fully engaged, highly focused, and remaining on task,” Meadows seemingly ignored his former boss’s landslide loss to Joe Biden last November while continuing with the sham pretense that Trump is still somehow not the ex-president, but continuing to act as the legitimate holder of the nation’s highest office.

Here is Meadows’ full quote:

“Well, we met with several of our cabinet members tonight, we actually had a follow-up member, meeting with some of our cabinet members, and as we were looking at that, we were looking at what does come next. I’m not authorized to speak on behalf of the president, but I can tell you this, Steve. We wouldn’t be meeting tonight if we weren’t making plans to move forward in a real way, with President Trump at the head of that ticket.”

While Meadows never specifically mentions the lunatic conspiracy theory that Trump will be reinstated to the presidency within the next 31 days — an idea that has been heavily promoted by the My Pillow founder Mike Lindell, not exactly a font of credibility after his own unproven rantings about election fraud — the implication he is making with his statement about moving forward is clear as day to the deluded MAGA hordes.

Add your name to demand Congress raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour!

Whether Meadows truly believes that Trump continues to be president and will be reinstated soon, is simply humoring his former boss, or is using tactical misinformation as a weapon against Democrats in a long-term political battle is unknown at this point, but, no matter what his motivation, the former White House chief of staff needs to acknowledge reality and cease his mentions of Trump as anything else besides “the former president” and of his advisors as a “cabinet.”

Such misleading terminology is both inaccurate and dangerous for our society, designed to prolong the division in this country while undermining the authority of the Biden administration.
