Trump shamelessly taunts Cuomo as a “TOTAL LOSER” and tries to make money off his scandal
Donald Trump is an unrepentant serial sexual predator. The former president has been accused by numerous women of sexual assault, allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl, and was caught on tape bragging about groping women. Yet somehow he feels entitled to weigh in on the sexual misconduct allegations leveled against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who recently announced he will be resigning amidst his growing scandal.
To be clear: Cuomo should absolutely resign given the nature and number of accusations. His alleged behavior cannot and should not be defended. That said, the allegations against him are not even close in terms of scale or severity to those that have been brought against Donald Trump. But ruthless opportunist that he is, Trump is now using Cuomo’s resignation to fundraise in a display of shamelessness that’s shocking even by his low standards.
The Hill reports that Trump’s Save America PAC sent out an email today in which the former president danced upon Cuomo’s political grave.
“Friend, Andrew Cuomo has got real problems – he handled COVID horribly and he’s DESTROYED New York – and it’s about time he resigned,” the email reads. “To tell you the truth, this guy is a TOTAL LOSER, and New York, as well as the entire Country, is better off without him.”
The hypocrisy on display here is staggering. Trump accusing anyone of mishandling COVID-19 is absurd given the way he botched the federal response to the outbreak by staffing his administration with incompetent tyros and crooks, downplaying the risk posed by the virus, and spreading misinformation. There are criticisms to be made of Cuomo’s handling of the pandemic to be sure but they are dwarfed by Trump’s own historic failures of leadership.
Saying that “it’s about time Cuomo resigned” is also a rich statement coming from a man who should have resigned on day one of his presidency. He was never qualified to sit in the Oval Office and the destruction he unleashed on the world could take decades to repair. At least Cuomo has decided to relinquish power willingly, unlike Trump who still insists that he won the election against Joe Biden.
If Cuomo is a “TOTAL LOSER” then Donald Trump is a SORE LOSER and we are all better off without him.
