Not content to simply smear President Joe Biden and absurdly demand that he be impeached for his decision to end the war in Afghanistan, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is now taking aim at Vice President Kamala Harris. The QAnon Congresswoman has been working to paint the U.S. withdrawal as some kind of historic failing when the truth is her idol Donald Trump called for an even sooner, hastier withdrawal. There is no consistency with Republicans like Greene, every criticism they level at Democrats is done in bad faith.
During an appearance on the far-right network Real America’s Voice, Greene called for Harris to be impeached—something she also did on Twitter today—and suggested that the vice president should personally travel to the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan where mass evacuations are currently underway.
“For her to not speak out about this, for her not to fly over to Afghanistan to the Kabul airport is disgraceful, and unforgivable,” said Greene. “All of them are complicit in this. And they knew. They knew.”
The suggestion that Kamala Harris should physically travel to Kabul is downright laughable. There is nothing that she can do on the ground there to help and the evacuations are being handled by the U.S. military. All that such a visit would accomplish would be slowing things down further with the injection of nonessential personnel into what is already a fairly chaotic scene. Greene’s logic is nonsensical.
Greene’s accusation that Kamala Harris is “guilty” makes just as little sense, especially since she failed to explain what exactly it is that the vice president is supposedly guilty of. This kind of vague conspiracy theorizing has become par for the course with individuals like Greene. They exploit the paranoid wing of their base with constant dog whistles and insinuations, confident that they’ll never be asked to explain exactly what it is that they’re saying. Intentionally vague attacks are all they really have at this point.
