Trump takes a victory lap for the Supreme Court Texas reproductive rights ruling

With much of America horrified about the recent Supreme Court decision declining to shoot down the state of Texas’s draconian abortion restrictions — which effectively criminalize not only the women seeking the procedure but anyone who could be considered to have helped them obtain it while offering bounties to citizen snitches — Donald Trump is clamoring to claim credit for the precedent-shattering court move.

In an interview with the Trump-friendly, right-wing Sinclair Broadcasting news organization, the disgraced ex-president was happy to take responsibility for creating a court that could upset the status quo on women’s reproductive rights.

Speaking with Sinclair host Sharyl Attkisson in an interview scheduled for broadcast next weekend, Trump said:

“We do have a Supreme Court that’s a lot different than it was,” the former guy boasted. “Before it was acting very strangely and I think probably not in the interest of our country,” he opined.

Trump improbably stated that he would be studying the court’s brief decision to not stay the implementation of the Texas law restricting reproductive rights until further court challenges can be decided.

“The ruling was very complex and also probably temporary,” Trump declared. “I think other things will happen and that will be the big deal and the big picture. So we’ll see what will happen. But we’re studying the ruling and we’re studying also what they’ve done in Texas.”

“We’ll be announcing something over the next week or two weeks,” he added.

Exactly what the powerless former president intends to announce will remain a mystery for now, but you can see an excerpt of Donald Trump’s comments about the Supreme Court ruling in his Sinclair News interview in the video clip below.
