Trump predicts the end of America and floats new Obama conspiracy in unhinged interview
Donald Trump needs to believe that this country needs him. His ego prevents him from recognizing that his presidency was an unmitigated failure, the worst in American history by most metrics. That same ego prevents him from seeing the successes of the Biden administration and the stability that has returned not only to Washington D.C. but the larger world thanks to the actions of his successor.
The economy is growing stronger, the White House is taking COVID-19 seriously, Congress is pursuing a much-needed infrastructure bill, and the future looks brighter by the day. Cruelty is no longer the motivating ethos of the federal government and the failed twenty-year-long war in Afghanistan has finally come to an end. Trump, of course, is unable to accept these simple facts.
During an appearance on the far-right outlet Newsmax yesterday, Trump claimed that President Biden is “worse than Obama,” before absurdly stating that “of course Obama is probably running the government now according to many.”
Add your name to demand Congress raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour!
The former statement rides roughshod over the fact that Obama’s presidency was far more successful than Trump’s. Obama passed the Affordable Care Act, providing healthcare to millions of Americans and saving countless lives. Trump handed out massive tax cuts to the super-rich. The latter statement about Obama running the White House is the usual conspiratorial tripe from Trump and can be discarded without consideration.
Trump went on to claim that the United States as we know it will be gone within three years.
“And you go to these elections coming up in ’22 and ’24, we’re not going to have a country left,” said the former president. “The election was rigged and we’re not going to have a country left in three years, I’ll tell you that,” he added, repeating his lie about the 2020 election for the umpteenth time without a scrap of evidence as usual.
