Matt Gaetz scorched on Twitter after endorsing Tucker Carlson’s racist Great Replacement Theory

It’s difficult to determine exactly when Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) jumped the shark.

Many would claim that he was destined to leap over the predatory fish the moment he left his mother’s womb.

Others would point to the day he followed in his father’s footsteps to enter into the world of Republican politics.

Still others would swear that it was only after Gaetz discovered Venmo and the easy availability of underaged girls sourced by his close friend the former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg, an admitted felon that he truly vaulted over the ferocious creature of the deep.

Whatever your estimate of when that inauspicious leap occurred it was well before his most recent Olympic-level jump as evidenced by this horrific tweet the Florida lawmaker posted yesterday.

Welcome to the 21st century where the explicit expression of White nationalist racism and anti-Semitism is now a regular plank of a certain breed of Republican politician’s platform and messaging strategy.

It’s not a long journey from Donald Trump’s placating designation of tiki-torch-bearing neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Virginia as “very fine people” and this open support of the racist great replacement theory that has lately been so heavily propagandized by Tucker Carlson on Fox News.

How Orwellian for Gaetz to label the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an anti-hate organization founded over a century ago to fight both anti-Semitism and other forms of discrimination, a racist organization for pointing out the racism of others.

Gaetz is no stranger to negative responses on social media to his posts, but this tweet inspired new levels of derision for the embattled Florida congressman.

The descent of the Republican Party into outright racism and anti-Semitism can only be attributed to the success that Donald Trump had in taking over the GOP after years of advancing his overtly racist “birther” theory that President Barack Obama wasn’t really eligible for the presidency because of Trump’s false claims that the first Black president wasn’t a legitimate U.S. citizen.

For someone as obviously dim and sycophantic as Congressman Gaetz, original thought is not a viable option so he leans on Trump and Fox News’ arguably most deplorable host for his talking points.

Even before this tweet, Gaetz deserved to be expelled from Congress because of the allegations of sex crimes far more serious than the accusations that hounded Democratic politicians like former Senator Al Franken (D-MN) and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Now that he’s declared his racism and anti-Semitism in no uncertain terms, Gaetz needs to add “former” in front of his Congressman’s title as soon as possible.
