Trump suggests Alec Baldwin deliberately killed a woman in deranged attack

The manner in which Republicans have responded to the tragic shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie Rust has been absolutely vile.

Actor Alec Baldwin discharged a prop gun that he had been told was safe but somehow a live round had been loaded into it. The bullet killed Hutchins and injured the director. Baldwin has been understandably distraught over his role in the accidental death but conservatives have pounced on him with blame and mockery, eager to take him down because of his liberal politics and his famously unflattering caricature of Donald Trump.

Donald Trump Jr. even began selling that read “GUNS DON’T KILL PEOPLE, ALEC BALDWIN KILLS PEOPLE,” eager to exploit the death of an innocent woman for cheap political points and a few bucks. Now his father has finally waded into the conversation with predictably repugnant commentary.

During a podcast conversation with right-winger Chris Stigall, Trump called Baldwin a “troubled guy,” said “there’s something wrong with him” and eventually went so far as to suggest that Baldwin intentionally murdered Hutchins.

“I’ve watched him for years. He gets into fistfights with reporters. Look, I don’t like reporters — I like some, some are great, some are talented, but you don’t get into fistfights. I mean, everything he does, he’s a volatile guy. He’s a nutjob,” claimed Trump.

“If they handed me a gun, I would never point it at somebody and shoot it, you know,” Trump went on, employing that favorite tactic of his in which he openly fantasizes about himself handling a situation better than someone else did.

“I don’t care about checking the gun, you know, you can look at any which way, you know, you’ve been reading the same articles that I have and seeing what I’ve been seeing,” said the former president. “They hand you a gun, Chris, you’re not going to point it at somebody, and then this was really a cinematographer, so it’s not even like an actress that’s on set with you, this was a cinematographer, so that means he took the gun and pointed it at a cinematographer, pulled the trigger and she was dead. It’s weird, it’s not doable, and then they’re outside, I think just by natural. You know, they’re outside in this big open space, there’s nobody around, I think I would have pointed it up in the air, but you can also look to see if it’s loaded. But who would take a gun and point it at a cinematographer and pull the trigger, and she’s dead.”

Authorities are still investigating the chain of events that led to the live gun being handed to Baldwin but there are absolutely no indications that it was anything other than a complete accident. Trump, never one to let the truth get in the way of his political agenda, suggested that Baldwin loaded the live ammo into the gun himself because of some deranged desire to take the life of an innocent woman. This is truly disgusting behavior on the part of an ex-president who seems to delight in constantly reminding all of us that he is incapable of empathy.

“I can’t imagine anybody, as bad as it may have been kept, meaning, you know, the people who take care of the equipment and the guns and everything else, but even if it was loaded, and, you know, that’s a weird thing, maybe he loaded it,” said Trump. “Who… Remember this… Who would put a gun, ‘Here, Alex, here’s your gun,’ ‘Oh, good,’ lift it up, point it at a person, and pull the trigger and ‘Oh, man, a bullet came ou.’ She’s dead. So there’s something wrong with him, he’s a sick guy.”

Trump went on to attack Baldwin’s SNL impersonation of him, saying he did “a poor job” and making it clear that his Rust comments are simply an effort to settle old scores.
