Twitter skewers Ted Cruz after truly pathetic show of groveling to Tucker Carlson

One year after Donald Trump and his cronies incited an enraged mob to attack the US Capitol in order to subvert the democratic transition of power, the irresistible influence that his version of history still holds over the Republican Party was put on full display on Thursday night when Sen. Ted Cruz appeared on the Tucker Carlson show and shamefully debased himself before the altar of Trump.

Bowing and scraping, the obsequious little toad insisted that he had never meant to smear the January 6th attackers as “terrorists” and instead praised them for being “patriots” after being verbally bullied by notorious white supremacist and cult of Trump apostle, Tucker Carlson.

“There are a lot of dumb people in Congress. You are not one of them. Smarter than I am. And you never use words carelessly. And yet you call this a terror attack when by no definition was it a terror attack. That was a lie. You told that lie on purpose and I’m wondering why you did” blasted Carlson. Cruz weakly argued that his words were “sloppy” and “dumb,” and continued to wilt under a vicious barrage. “I don’t buy that…Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! I’ve known you a long time since before you went to the Senate. You were a Supreme Court contender. You take words as seriously as any man who’s served in the Senate. And every word—you repeated that phrase, I do not believe that you used that accidentally. I just don’t!”

As if this humiliation wasn’t enough already, Cruz posted the clip to his own official Twitter account, along with a simpering and embarrassing mea culpae to the vicious and uncaring brutes in Trump’s America.

But if there’s anything we know about Trump’s hooting and baying fans, it’s that they abhor weakness and disloyalty — and Cruz is presenting both. If he has ambitions of running for the Presidency in 2024, he’s going to find it hard to make inroads with the Republican voter base after this truly pathetic performance.

Social media users from both sides of the aisle immediately savaged Ted Cruz for the masochistic way he begged Trumpworld for forgiveness:
