Four days before the January 6th riots, Donald Trump called Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to urge him to change the state’s vote totals from the presidential election by finding him votes.
“All I want to do is this — I just want to find 11,780 votes,” said Trump.
In a recent book, Raffensperger details how he felt that Trump threatened him during the call and he was interviewed for four hours by the House committee investigating the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Secretary of State elections are now a priority for a Republican Party taken hostage by Trump and obsessed with his conspiracy theories regarding election fraud.
According to polls, a majority of Republican voters across this country believe that the 2020 election was fraudulent and Raffensperger is now facing primary challengers in Georgia by MAGA candidates who want to punish him for his disloyalty to Trump.
Trump endorsed Republican U.S. Representative Jody Hice, one of three secretaries of state candidates who received his blessing nationwide, in his challenge against Raffensperger and has stumped for him at rallies in Georgia. Hice is a full-blown supporter of Trump’s conspiracy theories, promoting falsehoods about voting machines and absentee ballots. He also objected to Georgia’s Electoral College votes AFTER the January 6th riots took place and is dead set on painting Raffensperger as the Judas of the MAGA movement.
“It is my deep conviction that Brad Raffensperger has massively compromised the rights of the people at the ballot box,” Hice said. “He has opened the door for all sorts of irregularities and fraud to march into our election system, and it is time that we take charge of this.”
Last week, political operative Lauren Windsor asked Hice at a Columbia County Republican meeting if he would decertify the 2020 election results if he won his race.
In 2020, Trump called GA elections chief Brad Raffensperger and asked him to find 11,780 votes. He refused, so now Trump is backing Rep. Jody Hice to replace him.

“That’s why I’m in this race. We have got to deal with what happened in this thing,” Hice said, while also falsely claiming, “we don’t have judges that have been willing to look at the evidence.”
There’s no process to “decertify” an election and any idiotic attempt to have such a process would have absolutely no impact on the outcome of the 2020 presidential elections. This is yet another example of how Trump’s unhinged claims have turned most Republican officials into sad sycophants willing to say anything to curry favor with a disgraced reality TV star and a small, deluded, and extremist portion of the American electorate.
