SOUR GRAPES: Melania Trump moans about Vogue cover in first post-White House interview

It’s difficult to find an iota of pity for Melania Trump.

After all, no one forced her to marry one of the most reviled men on the planet or kept her in the marriage after Donald Trump proved to be the most dishonest and seditious president in American history.

Still, the folks at Fox News seem to believe that the liberal media at Vogue magazine have terribly wronged the former soft-core porn model because the influential fashion publication never featured Melania on the cover during her time as the First Lady.

The sycophantic Fox & Friends interviewer Pete Hegseth asked Melania a question that is apparently burning consciousnesses in MAGA-land during her first televised interview since exiting the White House and returning to civilian life:

“With your business background, and your fashion background, and your beauty, never on the cover of Vogue?”

The level of invented outrage here is extremely high, especially given the fact that Melania was in fact invited to do a photoshoot for Vogue while she was still First Lady, but, according to her former senior aide Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Melania blew off the request, refusing to appear in the magazine at all unless they guaranteed her the cover spot.

Never mind the fact that Melania’s marriage to Donald Trump was once a feature on the cover of the fashion bible. Unless Vogue editor Anna Wintour was willing to cede her control over the decision about who should be featured on the publication’s cover, Melania didn’t want anything to do with a photoshoot.

With a leading question like Hegseth’s, it’s no wonder that Melania fully took the bait and responded with an answer so dripping with sour grapes she needed little effort to pucker her lips in resting a duck-face pose.

Online wags naturally responded to Melania’s accusations of bias and her claim of having more important things to do by raising her critically-lambasted renovation of the White House Rose Garden, her modeling of the coat emblazoned with the slogan “I really don’t care. Do u?” while embarking on a trip to visit immigrant kids at a border detention center, her laughable “Be Best” signature campaign and other moments in an otherwise undistinguished tenure as First Lady.

Compared to First Ladies with intelligence and accomplishments — Michelle Obama, Jill Biden, Hillary Clinton, Barbara Bush, Lady Bird Johnson, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Jackie Kennedy all come to mind — Melania Trump is the one that you’d choose in any questionnaire asking you to pick the one that’s not like the others.

The only bias that Melania faces is a natural bias for people to admire competence, morality, and kindness, none of which Melania Trump is a particularly admirable example of.
