SCHIFF REVELATION: House Select Committee has evidence that Trump was personally involved in fake elector plot

In an interview this morning on CNN‘s State of the Union, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) told host Dana Bash that the Jan. 6th Committee has evidence that Trump himself was involved in the plot to install fake electors. When Bash asked the House Select Committee member if they had “evidence the former President himself was involved,” Schiff unhesitatingly said yes.

“Yes, we’ll show evidence of the President’s involvement in this scheme. We’ll also show, again, evidence about what his own lawyers came to think about this scheme,” Schiff told Bash.

Since the investigation began, more evidence of the fake elector plot has come to light. In early June, The Washington Post reported that Robert Sinners, director of the Trump campaign’s election operations, sent an email directing the State of Georgia’s 16 Republican electors to operate in “complete secrecy.”

“I must ask for your complete discretion in this process,” wrote Robert Sinners, the campaign’s election operations director for Georgia, the day before the 16 Republicans gathered at the Georgia Capitol to sign certificates declaring themselves duly elected. “Your duties are imperative to ensure the end result — a win in Georgia for President Trump — but will be hampered unless we have complete secrecy and discretion.”

Thankfully, they didn’t — a failure that secured then-President-Elect Joe Biden’s win in the state. It was a move not lost on Schiff, who called those at the state and local level who stood up to the pressure “courageous”.

“The system held because a lot of state and local officials upheld their oath of their constitution, a lot of them Republicans as well as Democrats,” the California congressman said.

When pressed by Bash as to whether the Select Committee had evidence that Trump instructed the electors to cast fake electoral ballots, Schiff wouldn’t elaborate. He said he didn’t want to “get ahead” of the upcoming hearings. But, Rep. Schiff did say:

“We’ll show during our hearing, what the President’s role was in trying to get states to name alternate state of electors. How that scheme depended initially on hopes that the legislators would reconvene and bless it.”

During Thursday’s televised hearings, former VP Mike Pence’s attorney testified to the increased pressure from Trump’s camp to push Pence to reject — or at least delay — certifying the 2020 election results, and Biden’s win, in the days leading up to, and on the day of the Capitol riot. When pressed by Dana Bash on whether Pence would be called to testify before the committee, Schiff responded, “Certainly a possibility. We’re not excluding anyone or anything at this point”
