FBI RAID: Former DOJ official Jeffrey Clark is having a very bad week

Federal authorities raided the home of former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark early Wednesday morning and seized Clark’s electronic devices. Clark aggressively pushed the department to declare the results of the 2020 election illegitimate on behalf of Donald Trump after lobbying — and failing — to be named acting Attorney General. The raid came on the eve of today’s House Select Committee on January 6th hearings that resumed this afternoon and are heavily dominated by damaging testimony about Clark’s actions to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Clark did not take the FBI raid well. Russ Vought, a spokesman for Clark, called the raid a “weaponization of government” in a tweet this morning.

Stepping in after Bill Barr’s resignation, then-Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen rejected Trump’s claims that the election was stolen, refusing to go along with the illegal plan to have states rescind their certifications for Biden – something Clark said he’d do if installed in Rosen’s place. Rosen and his former deputy, Richard Donoghue are currently testifying publicly before the House select committee. Select Committee co-chair Congresswoman Liz Cheney promises:

“You will see that President Trump corruptly planned to replace the Attorney General of the United States so the US Justice Department would spread his false stolen election claims. In our hearings, you will hear first-hand how the senior leadership of the Department of Justice threatened to resign, how the White House Counsel threatened to resign, and how they confronted Donald Trump and Jeff Clark in the Oval Office.”

To do what Trump, and Jeffrey Clark on his behalf, wanted, would – according to Donoghue ” be a grave step for the Department to take and could have tremendous constitutional, political and social ramifications for the country.”

Unlike the two impeachment hearings, the January 6th investigations seem to be spurring consequences for those involved in the coup conspiracy. Hundreds have testified before the committee privately, and now the public is getting to see the entanglements of those in Trump’s inner circle complicit in trying to overturn the free and fair 2020 election results.

If it’s proven that Clark behaved illegally, getting pulled out of his house in his jammies will be the least of his worries.
