Donald Trump hasn’t exactly been winning lately, and now he can add Women for Trump to his list of losses. According to the group’s founder, Amy Kremer, Trump is “disconnected from the base.” Kremer told Politico:
“Donald Trump is disconnected from the base. I don’t know what has happened there. I think he’s getting bad advice from the people around him, and I think it’s unfortunate, but it’s time for those of us in the movement to get back to basics, back to our first principles.”
What could make Kremer so upset that she’d turn her back on her MAGA King? Well, how about Trump withdrawing his support of Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL)? When Brooks made the mistake of suggesting the GOP move on from 2020 and look ahead to future races, Trump did the expected and retaliated. He rescinded his endorsement of Brooks in his bid for U.S. Senate – and backed his opponent, Katie Britt. It’s something that Kremer called a “slap in the face.”
Kremer didn’t hold back on Twitter:
But oh boy…it’s bad.
Either way, there is going to need to be a lot of damage control.

Until recently, Kremer has been a loyal supporter of Donald Trump — from pushing the “Big Lie” to organizing the January 6th rally that preceded the Capitol riot. But the MAGA tide has been shifting away from the insurrection-inciting ex-president in recent weeks. A focus group of Trump voters, conducted by Republican Sarah Longwell, showed for the first time in the year-long study that none wanted to see Trump on the ballot in 2024. And Florida’s fascist Governor, Ron DeSantis, has been besting Trump in key polls about who the MAGA hordes would like to see as the 2024 GOP presidential nominee.
Over the past few weeks, the American people have seen those in Trump’s former inner circle turn on the former guy and testify before the Jan. 6th Select Committee — with less than flattering words. They paint a picture of a man lacking in intelligence – which would be laughable, if not so dangerous – and lacking control. This is from people whose reputations and credibility in the Republican world precede them. Perhaps Kremer sees the writing on the wall, ready to cut her losses and jump off Trump’s sinking ship. In her words, “We were here long before President Trump came along, and we’re going to be here long afterward.” If that’s the case, perhaps Women for Trump needs a new name.
