Just days before the 2020 election, Steve Bannon told a group of Chinese associates in a secretly recorded call that Trump was going to announce himself the winner on election night. Chuckling, he said, “He’s gonna declare victory. But that doesn’t mean he’s a winner. He’s just gonna say he’s a winner.”
The plan was seeking to capitalize on a worldwide pandemic, lockdowns, and the increase in mail-in voting by Democrats, according to Mother Jones.
In the hour-long recording, the former Trump strategist went into detail about Trump’s plans to claim fraud and sow doubt about the legitimacy of President-elect Joe Biden’s win. He shared how American elections work, with Republicans tending to vote in person while Democrats preferred to vote by mail – creating the illusion that Trump was in the lead and making it easier to claim the election was stolen when mail-in ballots were counted.
“So when you wake up Wednesday morning, it’s going to be a firestorm. You’re going to have antifa, crazy. The media crazy. The courts are crazy. And Trump’s gonna be sitting there mocking, tweeting shit out: ‘You lose. I’m the winner. I’m the king,'” Bannon said.
Laughing as he predicted Trump’s lie would lead to violence and promising the men “crazy” antics by the losing President to avoid leaving office, Bannon called the 2020 election a “revolution” and said it will “trigger more fighting.” He also said that the chance for a peaceful resolution was unlikely.
“Because the other three alternatives [are], either Biden’s up slightly and Trump says he stole it, right, and he’s not leaving. Or it’s undefined and we can’t figure out who’s leading, and Trump’s saying he’s stealing it, and he’s not leaving. Or, Trump’s leading, which is the one where they’re gonna burn the city down.”
“If Biden is winning, Trump is gonna do some crazy shit.”
The supporters of Chinese Billionaire Guo Wengui were amused. It was on the exiled mogul’s yacht that Bannon was arrested for his “build the wall” scam – the one for which he received a last-minute pardon on Trump’s way out of the Oval Office.
Under Justice Department indictment for two counts of contempt of Congress, this time Bannon may not be so lucky. His attempts to avoid cooperating with the House Select Committee failed. A judge refused to delay his upcoming trial, which is scheduled to begin next week. The panel investigating the events of Jan. 6th is hot on his trail, with more evidence being revealed almost daily. With another hearing next week and Bannon’s involvement caught on tape, there’s likely no pardon to save him now.
