TRUMP TRUMPED: Biden gets Mexico to pay for border security

BUMMED OUT: One term tax cheat, fake billionaire Florida Man trumped by Biden again

Donald Trump is likely stewing in frustration and envy today as the Biden White House announced that it had reached an agreement for Mexico to contribute $1.5 billion for infrastructure along the border the country shares with the United States.

Despite promising even before he made it to the White House himself that he would get Mexico to pay for the wall he wanted to build on the that shared border, Trump was unable to convince the government of the Mexicans he had constantly insulted and belittled to accede to his obsession.

Instead, Trump pretended that Mexico was paying for the wall through the increased tariffs that he imposed and the renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement, even though tariffs are actually paid in the end by American consumers to whom the costs are passed along to.

The news of President Biden being able to accomplish a goal that long eluded Trump’s capabilities came in the midst of yesterday’s White House visit by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.

In a joint statement, Biden and Lopez Obrador explained what the joint border infrastructure project would entail.

“Borders that are more resilient, more efficient, and safer, will enhance our shared commerce.  We are committed like never before to completing a multi-year joint U.S.-Mexico border infrastructure modernization effort for projects along the 2,000-mile border.  The joint effort seeks to align priorities, unite border communities, and make the flow of commerce and people more secure and efficient.  President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law includes $3.4 billion to undertake 26 major construction and modernization projects at land ports of entry on the northern and southern border.  These land port modernization projects will create good-paying local jobs, bolster safety and security, and make the economy more resilient to supply chain challenges – all while serving as models for sustainability and innovation.  Mexico has committed to invest $1.5 billion on border infrastructure between 2022 and 2024,” the joint statement declares.

By focusing on the ways border security can enhance commerce and trade rather than engaging in fear-mongering tales of vicious migrant “caravans,” Biden managed to get cooperation and  a considerable sum of money from Mexico in a way that Donald Trump could never conceive of much less accomplish.

Surprisingly, even Fox News was compelled to report on Biden’s accomplishments on the Southern border, perhaps as part of owner Rupert Murdoch’s widening divide with Donald Trump.

Whatever the reaction from Donald Trump and his right-wing media allies, the deal with Mexico to co-fund border infrastructure projects is a feather in Joe Biden’s cap and another example of how much better at leading our nation he has been than his traitorous, incompetent predecessor.
