ON NOTICE: Fulton County DA Fani Willis warns Trump allies that indictments are coming
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis accelerated her investigation into Trump’s attempts to overturn the election results yesterday, sending “target” letters to the high-level Georgia Republicans who helped him and warning that they may be indicted for their roles in the fake elector scheme aimed at overturning President Joe Biden’s win in favor of Trump.
The Georgia politicians included GOP state Senators Burt Jones and Brandon Beach, and chair of the Georgia Republican Party, David Shafer.
Schafer presided over the meeting held the month after the election where 16 of the state’s republicans gathered to cast ballots for Trump and illegally presented themselves as the electors, sending their declaration to the National Archives.
Trump has criticized the Georgia DA’s investigation as politically motivated and a “witch hunt.” GOP attorney Randy Evans, a former ambassador to Luxembourg, thinks the target letters will only help Trump and fellow Republicans fundraise.
“It will become a fundraising letter [for the Republican Party]: ‘Help us fend off the unfounded legal attacks by the Democratic District Attorney for Fulton County.”
When asked about criticism from the other side of the aisle, Willis dismissed it saying, “I don’t make decisions based on what people say about me,” according to Yahoo! News

But the focused District Attorney has allies in Georgia – particularly the Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor, Charlie Bailey. Bailey is running against Burt Jones, who in addition to engaging in Trump’s attempted coup – is current Gov. Brian Kemp’s running mate. Bailey has used his opponent’s treasonous behavior as a key campaign issue, condemning the state senator’s actions in attempting to override the will of Georgia voters.
“To come in and say: ‘No, the voters don’t matter, and I get to decide, the party gets to decide who wins this election,’ that is authoritarian. It’s the most un-American thing you can do.”
In addition to Willis’ investigation, the Justice Department is also looking into the Georgia GOP and members of Trump’s inner circle who are accused of interfering in Georgia’s electoral process and attempting to influence the Secretary of State to throw out ballots.

When asked if Fulton County was still thinking of calling Trump to testify before the special grand jury, Willis answered yes, adding, “I think it’s something that we’re still weighing and evaluating.”

Willis did confirm speaking with defense attorney Dwight Thomas, the local counsel hired by Trump.
