EVASIVE ACTION: Rudy Giuliani seeks excuse to avoid testifying to Georgia grand jury

Scheduled to testify before a Georgia grand jury on Tuesday for his role in trying to overturn the 2020 election results, Rudy Giuliani is now seeking an emergency postponement in an appeal to the court.

The disgraced attorney’s claim that a recent heart procedure prevents him from traveling to Atlanta to testify was quickly debunked with photos that Guiliani had posted on social media showing him traveling out of state after the procedure.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis opposed Giuliani’s request, pointing out in a filing on Monday that the defendant purchased plane tickets to travel to Europe after his reported surgery.

“The district attorney has obtained records that indicate that between July 19, 2022, and July 21, 2022, the Witness purchased multiple airline tickets with cash, including tickets to Rome, Italy, and Zurich, Switzerland for travel dates between July 23, 2022, and July 29, 2022. All of these dates were after the Witness’s medical procedure,” the district attorney stated in a court filing..

Giuliani’s defense attorney William Thomas Jr. said his client is willing to testify if the circumstances are “conducive” to a traditional grand jury.

“Mr. Giuliani would be willing to do so, in a room, alone, but with the ability to leave the room and consult with counsel as need be — the exact same conditions that would be present during a Grand Jury proceeding.”

The judicial walls are closing in on Trump and those complicit in his attempt to conduct a coup. The Jan. 6 televised hearings have revealed Giuliani’s key role in trying to subvert democracy and deny President Joe Biden the elected position that he won freely and fairly.

Giuliani is a material witness in the Fulton County DA’s investigation into Trump’s interference in Georgia’s election results. According to a filing by District Attorney Willis, the former NYC mayor pushed unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud during a Georgia state Senate Hearing in the month preceding the Capitol attack.

“There is evidence that the Witness’s appearance and testimony a the hearing was part of a multi-state, coordinated plan by the Trump Campaign to influence the results of the 2020 election in Georgia and elsewhere<” the district attorney’s filing claims.

Willis has turned the heat up in her investigation since empaneling a special grand jury in January. With the call between Trump and GA Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger being central to the probe, Trump attorneys and allies – including Jenna Ellis and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) –  have also been subpoenaed.

After having his law license suspended in Washington D.C. and New York as a result of his false and baseless 2020 election fraud claims, and becoming the subject of multiple civil and legal investigations – the man formerly known as America’s mayor may now be known as America’s enemy.
