After an Ohio man was shot and killed after trying to make an armed incursion into the Cincinnati FBI offices, both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI issued an intelligence bulletin that stated the obvious — that there’s been a significant rise in the number of threats made against federal law enforcement officials since a team of FBI agents executed a search warrant on former president Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.

“The FBI and DHS have observed an increase in threats to federal law enforcement and to a lesser extent other law enforcement and government officials following the FBI’s recent execution of a search warrant in Palm Beach, Florida,” the intelligence bulletin, released on Friday, states.

The internal bulletin was disclosed to NBC News by two senior law enforcement officials, NBC stated.

The officials noted that the vast majority of the threats were coming from online sources and that the bulletin was likely sent as a cautionary measure after the attack in Cincinnati.

The FBI and DHS advise law enforcement agencies to be vigilant and pay attention to known domestic extremists with a penchant for violence in the past. That category has grown to include a sizable number of people after the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021.

It didn’t take a heck of a lot of research for the two federal law enforcement agencies to reach the conclusions that inspired the intelligence bulletin.

Right-wing social media — from Trump’s own Truth Social to Gab, Parler, and even the more mainstream platforms like Facebook and Twitter — was filled with ominous threats of violence and declarations of civil war in the aftermath of the news of the FBI search for illicit classified documents at Trump’s country club home.

The threats are not just restricted to social media. Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) posted a tweet featuring a voice mail he received that included a death threat against his children.

So far, it appears as if Ricky Shiffer, the Ohio man who died in a clash with police after he fled from his unsuccessful attempt to attack the FBI in Cincinnati, is the only person to have acted on his threats to destroy the organization targeting Trump’s crimes, but with the agents involved in the search already doxxed online — with their names, addresses, and family members revealed to the public by angry MAGA supporters — the threat of further retaliatory action remains high.

Let’s hope that both the DHS and the FBI are investigating these domestic terrorists issuing death threats and rattling their muskets about a new civil war in order to prevent their angry words from turning into deadly actions.
