HAZARD PAY: Trump lawyer forced to hire own defense attorney

A Trump attorney needing their own attorney is nothing new. Before the twice impeached ex-President was inaugurated, his legal advisors needed their own representation due to their fealty to the unreciprocating grifter leaving from under the bus he threw them at. The latest lawyers on the chopping block are Christina Bobb and Evan Corcoran, with Bobb having reportedly retained her own counsel.

It’s probably a good idea. At least  The New York Times thinks so.

“Last week, a Justice Department filing revealed that Mr. Trump’s lawyers had misled federal investigators about whether he had handed over to the Justice Department all the classified documents he took from the White House when he left office. That raised questions about whether the lawyers, M. Evan Corcoran and Christina Bobb, could be prosecuted themselves and might ultimately be forced to become witnesses against their client,” The Times reported.

From Trump “fixer” Michael Cohen – who spent three years in prison for his loyalty – to former America’s mayor turned national disgrace, Rudy Giuliani, those in the ex-President’s legal sphere have fallen into the investigated, indicted, disbarred, subpoenaed, and convicted categories.

Several members of the White House legal team – including former counsel Pat Cipollone and Pat Philbin, have testified before multiple committees and panels investigating the events leading up to January 6th, and their former boss’ attempts to illegally overturn the 2020 election results.

“17 mostly lesser-known lawyers who represented Mr. Trump in battleground states as he tried to overturn the election are facing ethics complaints, putting them at risk of being disciplined or disbarred by bar associations or the courts.”

Trump’s lawyers are finding out the hard way that it’s a one-way street when it comes to their boss. University of Baltimore law professor Kim Wehle, who has kept track of investigations into the Capitol riot, said it best:

“There’s no way to adhere to your ethical integrity and keep your job. There’s just no way to not step into a mess.”

Rudy Giuliani has had his law license suspended in New York and the District of Columbia because of his pushing the big lie, Sidney Powell has been sanctioned in Detroit, Michigan, and is facing disbarment in Texas. Seemingly all Trump roads lead to disgrace and professional suicide. Bobb, Corcoran, Habba – and anyone else with the misfortune of representing the stain on American democracy – will soon find out.
