Donald Trump is big mad. The toddler-in-child is fuming over the praise his protege and frenemy — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — is getting for his cruel migrant stunt, flying refugees from Texas to Florida and then on to Martha’s Vinyard. According to sources close to the matter, the narcissistic attention hoarder is not only annoyed – but accuses his potential 2024 presidential opponent of “stealing” his thunder.
Misleading desperate South American asylum seekers – men, women, and children – to get on a plane, transporting them thousands of miles away, and dropping them off in an unknown town without warning or preparation is exactly the kind of cruelty relished and cherished by the MAGA Republican base – and Trump knows it. With his eyes on the next election as the prize, the ex-president has taken hits from former allies who have alluded to a DeSantis allegiance.
“Trump has fumed over all the praise DeSantis’ action has been receiving in influential conservative circles lately,” Rolling Stone wrote.
According to Rolling Stone, Trump whined to those in his inner circle that his DeSantis is deliberately taking media attention away from the former president to boost the Florida governor in the polls.
“Trump is telling allies and confidants that he’s outraged that DeSantis seems to think he’s allowed to steal the ex-President’s mantle as both media star, and as undocumented-basher-in-chief,” Rolling Stone added.
In 2019, NPR reported that then-President Trump confirmed talk that he was contemplating sending undocumented migrants to “sanctuary cities” to punish Democrats in opposition to his barbaric immigration policies. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her northern California district were high on Trump’s human trafficking list. Trump said about California, ” We’ll give them more people. We can give them a lot. We can give them an unlimited supply, and let’s see if they’re so happy.”
“Desantis’ latest stunt was yet another one of my ideas…,” Trump insisted.
This isn’t the first time the egomaniacal former president has accused his Florida adversary of “stealing” from him. In August, Rolling Stone reported that Trump was miffed at DeSantis for mimicking the former President’s mannerisms and hand gestures when speaking. Donald Trump Jr. went so far as to accuse the governor of poaching the prodigal son’s tweets for inspiration.
Longtime GOP donor Dan Eberhart confirmed the accusation, saying that “DeSantis certainly mimics Trump’s style, rhetoric, and body language.”
As DeSantis’ authoritarian star continues to rise among the GOP, Trump is pushed further to the background of Republican politics, and support shifts to his most likely opponent for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. With the QAnon-pilled national disgrace saying that his Florida doppelganger “has no personal charisma and has a dull personality,” according to Axios – expect more tantrum throwing and unhinged meltdowns from the original wannabe fascist-in-chief.
