Tucker Carlson insinuates that Biden is to blame for pipeline explosions

In a more bat-shit crazy than usual episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight, the Fox News pundit insinuated that President Joe Biden “sabotaged” the Russian natural gas pipelines, Nordstreams 1 & 2. After reports that the two Baltic Sea leaks in the Russian-owned pipelines were caused by explosions, the conspiracy theory-pushing host couldn’t help but ask – in the predictable and insincere tone we’ve grown accustomed to being annoyed by – “could the Biden administration really do something like this?”

“We can’t say for sure, we don’t know for sure. We can tell you that close allies of the Biden White House believe they certainly did do it.”

We can’t say for sure, we don’t know for sure, that Tucker Carlson is a smug, self-satisfied propagandist, rolling in the dough from spreading his lies nightly, but we can tell you that anyone who hasn’t already been suckered into the Fox News hell-hole of misinformation believes that he certainly is.

Doing what a right-wing purveyor of Russian propaganda does best, Carlson used an eight-month-old clip, recorded a month before the Russian invasion of its sovereign neighbor, Ukraine – when a spokesperson for the Biden administration warned that, “If Russia invades Ukraine – one way or another, Nordstream 2 will not move forward.”

The former host of CNN‘s canceled debate show Crossfire showed feigned concern – a trademark look – saying emphatically:

“One way, or the other – we’ll stop Nordstream. Looking back, those words seem chilling eight months later as natural gas pours into the Baltic Sea, and into the atmosphere.”

Suddenly, Carlson is concerned about environmental impact?

Because facts and Fox News don’t get along, Carlson had no problem misleading his viewers by suggesting our European allies were suspicious that the U.S. may have been involved. While the consensus is among the EU that this was indeed a deliberate act, the most likely suspect is Russian President Vladimir Putin – currently engaged in an illegal war with a neighboring country amid allegations of human and civil rights abuses on a mass, and horrifying, scale that the world hasn’t seen in years. Considering the authoritarian leader cut access to Nordstream 1 in retaliation for sanctions and the European Union’s support of Ukraine and its President Volodymyr Zelensky, it’s certainly the most likely explanation.

After U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken met with his Danish counterpart, a spokesperson for the State Department issued a statement saying, “The United States remains united with our Allies and partners in our commitment to promoting European energy security,” NBC News reported. Latvia also suggested it had no doubt what caused the leaks. “Seems that we enter a new phase of hybrid war,” Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs said on Twitter.

According to NPR:

“Two undersea leaks that began in the Russian-owned Nord Stream gas pipelines on Monday were likely caused by powerful underwater explosions, according to Swedish and Danish seismographic data.”

It is “very clear from the seismic record that these are blasts,” Björn Lund‬, director of the Swedish National Seismic Network at Uppsala University told NPR in a phone interview. “These are not earthquakes; they are not landslides underwater.”

“There’s nothing I could come up with that would produce this.”

Submarine warfare expert and writer for U.S. Naval Institute News, H.I. Sutton, believes the  shallow depth at which the explosions took place could be reached by divers or unmanned underwater vehicles – tweeting a thread explaining his assumptions:

Tuesday night’s episode wouldn’t have been complete without an appearance from Carlson’s comrade, former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) –  the ‘D’ stands for DINO, by the way, appropriate, considering that she was once referred to as “Our friend, Tulsi,” by Russian state TV.

Putin’s Parrot told Carlson that she didn’t have “evidence” of who the culprit is, but warned of a potential nuclear holocaust – take a wild guess who the right will blame.

“I don’t have the evidence of who was responsible for this. There will be consequences if that is ever found out, but we have the reality of what we are dealing with right before us today. Which is, if we continue down this path, we may end up with a nuclear holocaust,” Gabbard said.

Is that a threat from her Russian handler, perhaps?

Since President Biden took office he has strengthened our world standing – rebuilding broken relationships with our allies and pledging solidarity with those seeking to preserve their democracies in the face of fascism. At the end of the day, POTUS has zero reasons to want to sabotage our longtime partners – while Vladimir Putin has plenty.

Thankfully the energy impact on the EU will be minimal – with Nordstream 2 not quite finished, and Nordstream 1 shut down by Putin himself.

As for Carlson, his contempt for American democracy is palpable. Someone should investigate his finances to see if he’s been getting any monetary incentives for disseminating his traitorous Russian propaganda.
