PARTY OF FAMILY VALUES: Husband dumps MTG per court filings

Perry Greene has filed for divorce against his wife, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), best known by her initials MTG.

After 27 years of marriage, Congresswoman Greene’s estranged husband officially filed in Georgia’s Floyd County Court on Wednesday, saying the union was “irretrievably broken.”

Perry told tabloid news outlet TMZ, “As we go on different paths, we will continue to focus on our three incredible kids and their future endeavors and our friendship.” He elaborated:

“Marjorie has been my best friend for the last 29 years and she has been an amazing mom! Our family is our most important thing we have done.”

Married since 1995, Mr. Greene admits the couple had previously separated and has asked the court to divide their assets and debts equally between them.

Motioning to have the divorce filed under seal, according to the Rome News-Tribune, the Georgia representative’s husband raised concerns over the couple’s privacy – his wife is one of the highest profile and most controversial Republican legislators in Washington, D.C. Perry wrote in his motion to seal:

“The petitioner shows that he expects there will be certain pleadings, affidavits, and other documents filed in this case such that the record will contain sensitive personal and financial information, the public disclosure of which would negatively impact the parties’ privacy interests.”

Since securing the 2020 Republican nomination to represent Northern Georgia’s 14th district, Marjorie Taylor Greene has been a fixture on the GOP fundraising and rally circuit and consistently the center of controversial political news.

Though “traditional family values” was a constant talking point for the America First Republican – MTG was very rarely seen with them, if at all.

It’s a complete 180 from the campaign trail in 2020, her first election. Back then, she praised and paraded her husband around on social media and in public prior to election day.

Though the exact reason for the couple’s split is unknown after the newly elected representative was sworn in January 2021, it was reported Greene had multiple affairs during her two-decades-long marriage – one of them being with a self-proclaimed “tantric sex guru” and another with a manager at an Alpharetta, GA CrossFit gym.

When asked about the extramarital affair with MTG, gym manager Justin Tway said, “I have no interest in talking about anything to do with that woman. Everything with her comes to no good.”

Rep. Greene released a statement addressing the failure of her marriage on Wednesday, writing:

“Marriage is a wonderful thing and I’m a firm believer in it. Our society is formed by a husband and wife creating a family to nurture and protect. Together, Perry and I formed our family and raised three great kids. He gave me the best job title you can ever earn: Mom. I’ll always be grateful for how great of a dad he is to our children. This is a private and personal matter and I ask that the media respect our privacy at this time.”

The couple’s three children are all over the age of 18 today.
