PETTY COWARD: Trump wanted to boot Jared and Ivanka from their White House jobs by tweet
Then-president Donald Trump wanted to fire Ivanka and Jared Kushner from their White House jobs by a tweet, according to the new book by The New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America. Stopped by his then-chief of staff John Kelly and Don McGhan – White House counsel at the time – from tweeting that “his daughter and son-in-law were leaving the White House.”
Kelly thought it best that the then-President tell them directly first – as any rational person would.
“Trump refused to give Kushner the bad news himself.”
That conversation never happened, and Jivanka remained in their position as Senior Aides in the Oval Office. Based on revelations by former Senior White House Adviser, Peter Navarro, in his new book, Taking Back Trump’s America: Why We Lost the White House and How We’ll Win It Back – fear of backlash from his family may be the reason.
According to Navarro, in June 2020, just five months before the election, “Donald Trump agreed to a ‘coup d’état’ to remove his son-in-law Jared Kushner from control of his presidential re-election campaign and replace him with the far-right provocateur Steve Bannon.”
“He sounds like a child,” Trump said after Kushner spoke publicly in 2017 following his congressional testimony, according to the book,” CNN reported.
According to The Guardian – which obtained a copy of Navarro’s book ahead of its release, the indicted former trade adviser wrote:
“Fearing ‘family troubles if [he] himself had to deliver the bad news to … the father of his grandchildren,’ Trump asked Bernie Marcus, the founder of Home Depot, a large Republican donor and a central player in the coup, ‘to be the messenger’ to Kushner.”
But things didn’t go as planned, with Kushner dodging Marcus’ initial call, and when Kushner did talk to the home improvement mogul – he had this to say, according to Navarro:
“Things were fine with the campaign, there was no way he was stepping down and, in effect, Bernie Marcus and his big moneybags could go pound sand”.
Though he may have lacked the spine to fire his son-in-law to his face, Trump had no problem mocking his favorite daughter’s husband behind his back. Haberman wrote, “‘He sounds like a child,’ Trump said after Kushner spoke publicly in 2017 following his congressional testimony, according to the book,” CNN reported.
Former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly prevented his boss from firing Ivanka and Jared on social media before telling them in person– but he himself wouldn’t be so lucky. After his rocky tenure as a member of Trump’s White House inner circle, Kelly planned to announce his retirement at the end of December 2018, but his oh-so-petty boss beat him to the punch. Trump told reporters prior to the Army-Navy game, “John Kelly will be leaving—I don’t know if I can say ‘retiring.’”
Haberman’s book proves that not only is ex-President Trump a treasonous foreign puppet – he’s apparently a petty coward as well.
