ALOHA-HA-HA: Not-a-Democrat Tulsi Gabbard announces she’s “leaving” the party
It’s never a good sign when you wake up to “Tulsi” trending at Number One on Twitter, because it means the former representative from Hawaii said something stupid to get attention. But it’s fun to get a nice hearty laugh in before you’ve even had coffee, and Tulsi certainly provided that for everyone on Tuesday morning when she announced her “exit” from the Democratic Party in an overly dramatic announcement full of MAGA signaling words.
Tulsi certainly is a puzzlement for anyone who’s reminded she’s still around because, on paper, she initially reads like a Democratic dream. To take a quick glance at her Wikipedia page is to chart her descent into MAGA-madness: Gabbard served in a field medical unit of the Hawaii Army National Guard while deployed to Iraq from 2004 to 2005 and was stationed in Kuwait from 2008 to 2009 as an Army Military Police platoon leader. She was elected to the Hawaii House of Representatives at the age of 21, and while a member of Congress, she served as a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) from 2013 to 2016, then resigned to endorse Bernie Sanders’ campaign for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination. You may recall Hillary Clinton talking about Russian assets and Tulsi taking that super personally, which is when things started going really sideways for Gabbard.
See, Democrats don’t go to CPAC, which is a thing (among many other things) that points to her not being a real Democrat despite running as one in 2020. She endorsed Joe Biden and then immediately started taking up the MAGA propaganda about him. Oh, was Hillary right about yet another thing? Huh.

Democrats also don’t go on Tucker Carlson’s show and align with the Fox News folks. So when Tulsi made her big attention-whoring announcement on Tuesday morning that she was leaving a party that literally no one thought she was ever a true part of, Twitter responded in the best way.

There’s a lot to unpack there. “Elitist cabal of warmongers” is a bit heavy on the MAGA virtue signaling. It’s like someone gave Tulsi a checklist of triggering words so that she could tell MAGA she was MAGA without overtly saying she’s MAGA. But I mean, guest-hosting Tucker Carlson’s show is also a pretty quick way to transmit that info.

Seriously, Tulsi, you really don’t have to make a big announcement that you’re leaving, you can just go. I bet Tulsi was the kid at the birthday party who cried when the birthday kid got presents but she didn’t, and she kept screaming until someone gave her something just to shut her up. Everything about Tulsi is fake af, except her ambition. That’s dangerously real, considering who she’s chosen to align with instead of America.
