BUSTED: This Minnesota MAGAt was found guilty of faking Antifa attack for profit
The Minnesota man who blew up his own camper, drew graffiti on his home, and blamed it on Antifa to raise money, pleaded guilty to wire fraud on Tuesday after submitting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bogus insurance claims and using his lie to crowdfund tens of thousands of dollars, per United States Attorney Andrew M. Luger.
In September 2020, a 30-year-old Brooklyn man, Denis Vladimirovich Molla, made a false police report claiming his home was vandalized by an unknown individual. According to court documents, Molla told law enforcement officials, “that someone had lit his camper on fire.”
Molla also reported that his garage door was vandalized with spray-painted graffiti stating, “Biden 2020,” “BLM,” and an Antifa symbol and that his camper was targeted because it had a Trump 2020 flag displayed on it.
“In reality, Molla started his own property on fire and spray painted the graffiti on his own garage.”
Molla submitted multiple insurance claims seeking coverage for the damage to his garage, camper, vehicles, and residence caused by the fire. When his insurance company denied some of those claims, Molla submitted a written complaint to the insurance company claiming that it was defrauding him and threatened to report the company to the Department of Commerce and to the Attorney General.
Molla also created and allowed others to create two GoFundMe accounts to benefit himself and his family. In total, he submitted more than $300,000 in fraudulent insurance claims, and he received approximately $61,000 from his insurance company. Molla also received more than $17,000 from individual donors via GoFundMe.
Four months prior, the murder of George Floyd by then-Minneapolis police and now-convicted killer Derek Chauvin was caught on camera, igniting a worldwide cry for police reform. Protests erupted around the country in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and advocating for an end to police violence and brutality.
Right-wing chaos agents and bad actors attributed to white nationalist groups like the Boogaloo Boys, infiltrated the mostly peaceful protests, setting fires and wreaking havoc in an attempt to derail and discredit those exercising their First Amendment rights.
A joint investigation between the FBI and the Brooklyn Center Police Department closed the case and brought the actual criminal to justice. Sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
