NO SECRETS: Chris Christie says Trump shows top secret docs to Mar-a-Lago guests while pretending to be president

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says he believes the primary reason the disgraced and ousted former president lugged boxes of top secret government documents to his Florida estate was so he could show them off to guests and deny that he’s been removed from power.

Even though the FBI removed about a dozen boxes of documents from Donald Trump’s storage room and office at Mar-a-Lago, there are still documents believed to be missing, and empty folders were located in Trump’s office, leaving open the question of what, exactly, may have happened to the documents inside.

Some top Democrats have openly speculated that perhaps Trump passed those documents on to some other entity, or to another of his properties, and of course, there’s always the possibility he shredded or otherwise destroyed them, as he has a reputation for doing — especially if any of the missing papers cast him in a negative light.

Christie, however, thinks that the 2020 loser just can’t admit to himself that he’s no longer in the White House, and he’s using government documents, along with a desk copied from the Oval Office, as props to continue playing POTUS.

Watch below as he explains his view to ABC‘s This Week:

“He wanted to keep these documents as a trophy…That he walks around and says, ‘Look, I’ve got this, I’ve got this classified document or that,’ because remember something: He can’t believe he’s not President,” Christie explained.

Christie says being able to “display to everybody at Mar-a-Lago, or at Bedminster during the summer, that he still has some of those trappings,” including a replica Resolute Desk, all help “assuag[e] his disappointment, and his disbelief, that he’s not the president anymore.”

Of course, this doesn’t do anything to lessen the danger of an angry ex-president’s possession of documents to which he no longer has any right. If Christie is right, then papers bearing national secrets are being shown to any guest at Mar-a-Lago, without concern for security clearances or loyalties.

Fortunately, the Supreme Court seems to also recognize the severity of the situation and recently rejected pleas to intervene on Trump’s behalf
