PUSHBACK: GOP Congressman STRUGGLES when confronted with his election lies
Congressman Tom Emmer (R-MN) resembled a deer in headlights when asked about rising political violence during an interview Sunday on CBS‘s Face the Nation. Host Margaret Brennan asked the congressman if he regretted creating doubt about the legitimacy of the 2020 election, and where we are now.
“I’ve never raised doubts about the election,” Emmer answered.
Brennan didn’t back down. Instead, the host came with receipts:
“You are on this list we have of 307 Republicans running for office who have raised doubts about the integrity of the election. I mean, they’re drawing a direct line here between sowing distrust then, and what we are seeing right now,” Brennan told the legislator.
“What you’re referring to, I have never shed doubts about the election. I have definitely raised questions,” the National Republican Congressional Committee chair responded.
Contradicting his own statements, the Minnesota Republican congressman previously signed onto an amicus brief to the Supreme Court challenging the election results, filed by corrupt Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, which stated, “the unconstitutional irregularities involved in the 2020 presidential election cast doubt upon its outcome and the integrity of the American system of elections.”
Attempting to backtrack, Emmer was stopped in his deflecting tracks when saying he wanted to elaborate on the brief.
“I know, and I would love to talk about something other than people being worried for their lives. but unfortunately, that’s where we are,” Brennan told the congressman.
“I want to ask you about this, when it come to political violence, on your Twitter feed you posted this video we’re going to show – just a few days ago – where you’re firing a gun, and it says, ‘Enjoyed exercising my Second Amendment rights #FirePelosi.’ Why is there a gun in your political ad at all?” she asked.

According to Emmer, it wasn’t an ad, he was just “exercising our Second Amendment rights and having fun.” However that “fun,” is turning increasingly violent.
Just two days after the tweet was posted, 82-year-old Paul Pelosi, husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was brutally attacked with a hammer in his home by an intruder looking for his wife. Pelosi has been the target of death threats that many believe are spurred by vicious verbal attacks by ex-president Donald Trump and his political allies.
MB: “Do you not understand that that is suggestive to people who are in a bad state, and, in this current environment, how risky it is? As you’re talking about…”
TE: “Well, I disagree, Margaret.”
MB: “… the importance of lowering the rhetoric…”
TE: “I disagree with you.”
On his own website, the representative encouraged the acceptance of an alternate slate of electors, writing, “If there are competing slates of electors sent to Congress by a state’s legislature, precedent allows Congress to be the arbiter between the two slates, however, no state has done this so far in this election.”
Congressman Emmer may not have answered Brennan’s questions directly, but his deflection and record tell us everything we need to know.
